This Zurich Metal band CORONER was formed in 1984 by guitarist Tommy T. Baron, Marquis Marky (drums) and Ron Royce (bass). They recorded their classic debut demo "Deathcult" in 1985 featuring Tom G. Warrior (from CELTIC FROST) as guest singer. But the history of the band goes a bit earlier as Marky and Baron were part of the road crew from CELTIC FROST in their US tour for the album "Tragic Serenades". The similitudes between CELTIC FROST and CORONER were more than evident and when they got the deal with Noise Records, it was mainly due to those similarities between both bands. Noise thought that it was going to help the band promotionwise and so, the deal was signed. Their debut LP, "R.I.P." received good reviews and it went on to sell 50.000 copies in Europe. They were near to make a tour with M.O.D., but it had to be cancelled due to protests against this provocative band (the strong personality of Billy Milano was one of the reasons!). 1988 see the release of their second album "Punishment For Decadence" and bad luck feeds again on the band as a planned tour in the States as support for SABBAT and RAGE had to be cancelled and the band was incarcerated by UK customs due to lack of work permits. Anyway, the band gets a few dates as support for SACRED REICH at the end of this same year. "No More Color" was released in 1989 and the band tour Europe with WATCHTOWER in 1990. Two more albums were released: "Mental Vortex" (1991) and "Grin" (1993), and then it is clear that CORONER becomes the solo project of Tommy T. Baron as problems started to rise between all the members. A compilation album called "Coroner" was released in 1995. Then, after the dissolution of the band Marky became a part of APOLLYON SUN, the band from Tom G. Warrior after CELTIC FROST's split up.
