It was march 1997 when, from the depths of the cerebral dead, shithole little provincial city called Voghera, Italy, 4 young guys who grew up on cheap alcohol, badass hard rock, metal and punk rock decided it was time to start a band, basically to have fun, try to get laid a bit more and kick the shit outta the imperant fuckheads in town. It was time to start such a band in Italy, where when it comes to good music, well, it's better shut the fuck up and forget. THE NERDS started playing around in Italy, gaining a reputation of silly guys whose only interests are crazy b-movie flicks, good ol' porn and loud rock'n'roll. Shortly after, in early1998, they released their first 7", a split with the great and now split up ORANGE JUICE FROM THE CRYPT, the only band in Italy that really went along very good with them. In their first years, THE NERDS was more into the wildest side of '80s punk rock stuff, such as ANGRY SAMOANS, early QUEERS, GG ALLIN & THE JABBERS and more, and they released in the same year the first 7" on their own, "Don't Like You" besides some tracks appeared on LP compilations such as the tribute to Wimpy's Queers "Blow Out with History" that came out on Booze Recordings.. Meanwhile, a new label was rising in the sad italian underground, SCAREY RECORDS. THE NERDS was the first band to be on SCAREY with the "I wanna kill your plastic slut" 7" ep, the climax of their "traditional" punk rock oufits, with three originals and a cover of GG ALLIN's "I wanna rape you", shortly after followed by a 7" compilation in Sweden on KEN ROCK RECORDS with THE GRABBIES from Italy and THE IDYLS and THE PRICKS from Sweden. In those times the band played a lot around Northern Italy and began writing down some new stuff that came out on their first full-lenght "Just because she didn't wanna fuck", pressed in december 2000 by the dutch STARDUMB RECORDS. The liner notes for the album were written from two new friends for THE NERDS, Jeff Clayton from ANTiSEEN and Gerry Atric from THE BULEMICS... the album is the beginning of a new period for the band, because they left the usual punk rock stereotypes to put more power in their sound, and they got even more feedback from people abroad, and in april 2001 they toured Holland and Belgium spreading their evil brand of rock'n'roll and knowing some more cool people like THE SPADES, EL GUAPO STUNTEAM and THE HOT ROD HONEYS to play and party with. A new split 7" with the FRANKENSTEIN DRAG QUEENS FROM PLANET 13 from North Carolina came out about the same time, with 2 unreleasead tracks for each band, and always on SCAREY, that's now the one and only label that truly supports the band. Other tribute tracks came out on the SCAT BOY RECORDS tribute to the Alice Cooper Band and some others will be released soon on two GG ALLIN tributes, one outta Sweden and the other outta North Carolina, USA. March 2002 sees the band touring again the beautiful country of Holland, with a final climax supporting ANTiSEEN in Haarlem during their euro-tour. More general mayhem and weird stage stroies lead the band to the releasing of the long awaited 10" with the TUNNEL RATS
from New Hampshire in june 2002, and more upcoming projects are scheduled right now... so it's better if you watch your back...
