CHRONOLOGY  

January 29 2003. San Maurizio (Turin). In the centre of the village, some cameras are blacked out with paint by unknown people.

February 2004. San Foca (Lecce). In Regina Pacis a North African prisoner swallows two batteries and is taken to the hospital, from where he runs away.

March 14 2004. Corridonia (Macerata). A Molotov device is thrown against the front door of councillor Sandro Giustozzi’s house. According to the latter, the action is related to the protests against the project of opening a detention centre in Piedicolle area. Giustozzi, however, declares that he is calm and ‘well protected by police’.

March 16 2004. Maglie (Lecce). Failed attack against a branch of ‘Banca Intesa’, where the account of Regina Pacis is kept. A rough device formed by two lit cigarettes connected to two matches and by a cloth soaked in petrol ignites a fire, but unfortunately it does not succeed in destroying the cash machine.

March 23 2004. Corridonia (Macerata). Councillor Sandro Giustozzi is once again the target for attacks. This time the action is carried out in broad daylight against the councillor’s car, parked in front of the council hall. The councillor now states: “I might retire from political life”.

April 11 2004. Lecce. Easter day: on a scaffold close to the ‘Duomo’ cathedral, a banner appears with the writing: “Close down the concentration camps for immigrants. Free everybody”.

April 13 2004. Trento area. Unknown people cut the pipes in three petrol stations (two of them are Esso stations, one is an Omv station) and damage the self-service petrol pumps. According to the press, a leaflet is left in one of the petrol stations: “These companies are directly responsible for massacres in Iraq. Long live the Iraqi insurgency, the capitalism is terrorist”.

April 16 2004. Galatina (Lecce). Unknown saboteurs visit an Esso petrol station and cut six pipes causing five thousand euros damage. A message left on the spot claims the action: “Sabotage against Esso, which is involved in the military occupation in Iraq”.
