An unusual means of transportation links
the lake to the mountains and offers a splendid view of Como during
the trip, which takes only 7 minutes and covers a difference of
500 metres in height.
This cable railway from Como to Brunate (716 meters) was opened
on November 11th 1894., and it was inaugurated in 1899; it indicated
the start of the transformation of the area, from a small centre
of craftsmen and farmers to a prestigious holiday resort.
