Final Fantasy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An article with information about the games, notable people, and external links.
Two of them, and , have yet to be officially released outside of Japan; however, both are scheduled to appear in North America (the former for the Nintendo DS, and the latter for the PlayStation 2) by the end of the year
first entered the Japanese in the mid 1980s, developing a variety of simple RPGs for 's (FDS), a disk-based for the Family Computer (also known as the 'Famicom, ' and known internationally as the Nintendo Entertainment System )
Final Fantasy began on the (also known as the 'Famicom', and known internationally as the Nintendo Entertainment System ) as Final Fantasy in 1987, and was joined by two sequels, Final Fantasy II (later re-released on the and worldwide) and Final Fantasy III (later remade on the worldwide)
The same basic system was used in the next three games, Final Fantasy IV , Final Fantasy V , and Final Fantasy VI , for the (known internationally as the Super Nintendo Entertainment System )
This was due to a dispute with Nintendo over Nintendo's use of faster and more expensive cartridges, as opposed to the slower and cheaper compact discs used on rival systems
Nintendo planned to develop a magnetic disc reader that would mount to the expansion port on the bottom of the Nintendo 64 (later dubbed the ), however the release of this peripheral was delayed repeatedly

Nintendo 64 Tech
A guide to the technical aspects of the N64, mirrors of backup and development

Nintendo 64 Tech This page is about the Nintendo 64 game console
It has information about the following topics: The N64 Hardware The Nintendo 64, originally known as the Ultra 64, was released in the US by Nintendo in 1996
It was Nintendo's third game console, and the first one on the market with a fully 64-bit CPU
(The Atari Jaguar, though advertised as 64-bit, had a 16-bit main processor.) The Nintendo 64 has the following hardware: MIPS R4300i 64-bit RISC CPU running at 93.75MHz (1.5X bus multiplier) RCP (Reality CoProcessor), a custom vector processor developed by Nintendo and SGI, running at 62.5MHz 4 megabytes of parity Rambus RDRAM (expandable to 8MB) Four digital controller ports using a serial protocol The RCP is a powerful multimedia processor that handles the 3D rendering and sound output for the console
However, many people (myself included) believed that the N64 upheld Nintendo's traditional values in its design
And the cartridge saving meant that we didn't have to worry about losing the contents of our memory cards on most Nintendo-developed games
Since Nintendo wasn't interested in impressing the layman through multimedia, it focused on creating some of the best games ever, and it succeeded exquisitely
