Autosprint magazine about this race

Only the Friday's qualifying results were valid for the grid. The Saturday qualifying was aborted due a torrential rain. Mansell won the pole with Riccardo Patrese closing the first row. Senna and Berger were in the second row and Michael Schumacher formed the third row with Johnny Herbert.

Senna retired from the race with engine problems. Mansell was first, Patrese second and Berger third, but the Austrian made a pit stop and returned behind Michael Schumacher and the Lotus drivers (Johnny Herbert and Mika Hakkinen).

Some time later, on lap 13, Schumacher retired. Herbert also had some problems and lost the third place. At the mid-race pit stops, Berger and Brundle recovered their positions (third and fifth respectively). They made a pit stop again after that but didn't lost their positions.

Mansell continued as the leader, Patrese second and Berger in third but at the 36th lap, Nigel pulled off the racing line and Riccardo passed him. Mansell didn't recover the lead and with few laps to end he retired due engine problems.

Riccardo won the race (his last win in Formula One), Berger was second and Martin Brundle won the third position after Mika Hakkinen's retirement.
