Position Fastest
Lap The Italian driver Lamberto Leoni driving a March 763 Toyota got the pole position for this race. Riccardo Patrese got the second position and Gianfranco Brancatelli got the third position. This race, like all others Formula 3 races, was run in two batteries. The first battery finished with Brancatelli's win. Conny Andersson finished in second and Lamberto Leoni got the third place. The final of the second race was delayed for an hour due a downpour. The track was wet but fortunately started to dry quickly. Some drivers chose to start with wet tyres, but it wasn't a good choice and they started to have problems few time after the restart. Patrese won this battery 2.3 seconds ahead of Conny Andersson. Piercarlo Ghinzani finished in third. With
this win, Patrese returned to be the leader of the European Formula 3
Championship. |
