1927-1928
1927: The Holland Tunnel between Hudson County and Manhattan opens for traffic.
Rand McNally publishes the first road atlas.
The Massachusetts Public Works Commision holds hearings on Car Radios. It is argued that they should be banned from vehicles because:
1) They distract the driver and cause accidents
2 The act of tuning would distract the driver and cause accidents
3)The music would lull the driver to sleep
4) The drivers of other vehicles would be distracted by the noise!
GM, one of the first multinational Corporations, keep on organize itself to sell to the whole world under the leadership of Alfred Sloan. In 1927 GM begins to produce a series of documentaries about this worldwide organization.
The milestone 1927 model-year Cadillac LaSalle is introduced. This is the first production car designed by a stylist. It is designed by the legendary Harley Earl.
General Motors Japan is established.
During this year GM Japan opens its new assembly plant in Osaka.
Also in 1927 fundamental financial management principles are set forth by Donaldson Brown in a paper entitled "Decentralized Operations and Responsibilities with Coordinated Control."
Chrysler Export Corp. is organized in 1927.
1928: Coast-to-coast bus service begins.
In 1928 General Motors Near East holds its first Dealers' Conference in Alexandria, Egypt. General Motors India establishes the first automobile assembly plant in India.
Clashless Synchromesh transmission is introduced by Cadillac. This is a major innovation for 1928.
No changes are made to the Buick models during this couple of years.
Also in 1928: Chrysler buys Dodge and introduces the DeSoto and the first Plymouth, priced from $670 to $725 to appeal to consumers with average incomes.
Chrysler Corporation also established separate divisions for distribution of various lines of cars: Plymouth Motor Corporation, Dodge Brothers Corporation, DeSoto Motor Corporation, and Chrysler Sales Corporation.
Fargo Motor Corp. is also organized by Chrysler to handle national fleet business, and the following year Chrysler Motors Parts Corp. is formed to merchandise parts for all of the Corporation's lines.
This year, Chrysler buys the Dodge Brothers, Inc., automotive builders with a solid reputation for making vehicles with rugged dependability. The Dodge Brothers became famous for building the first car to drive into and out of the Grand Canyon.
During 1928 Auburn Automobile Company buys a new factory in Connersville, Indiana. The Auburn has 6.300 workers and produces 14.700 cars, 2.196 to be exported by the Auburn Automobiles Export Shipments.
From the 17 to the 31 of may, 1928, Auburn introduces two new models, during an Auto-Show in Milan, Italy. The cars are the Auburn 6-76 Sport Sedan and the Auburn B-115 Speedster.

La Massachusetts Public Works Commission tiene delle udienze sulle autoradio. Viene detto che dovrebbero essere bandite e tolte dai veicoli perche':
1) Distraggono il guidatore e causano incidenti.
2) L'atto di sintonizzarsi potrebbe distrarre il guidatore e causare incidenti.
3) La musica potrebbe indurre il guidatore ad addormentarsi.
4) I guidatori di altri veicoli potrebbero venire distratti dal rumore proveniente da altre autoradio!
Nel 1927 la General Motors inizia a produrre un'interessante serie di documentari tendenti ad illustrare l'attivita' industriale e di vendita del grande marchio automobilistico negli USA e nel resto del mondo.
Durante il 1927 la Auburn Automobile Company prende il controllo della Lycoming Manufacturing Company ed acquisisce la Limousine Body Company.
George Souders, su Duesenberg, vince la 1927 Indianapolis 500.
Le Buick prodotte in questi due anni si mantengono praticamente identiche ai modelli del 1926.
Il 26 maggio 1927 Henry ed Edsel Ford guidano personalmente la 15milionesima Model T fuori dalla linea di montaggio di Highland Park, mettendo ufficialmente la parola fine alla produzione della Model T.
Le Model T prodotte in totale negli stabilimenti Ford di tutto il mondo sono state 15.458.781.
Il 27 ottobre dello stesso anno, nella Rouge Assembly Plant, entra in produzione la nuova Ford Model A.
Una vera pietra miliare, la LaSalle, vettura completamente nuova prodotta dalla Cadillac, viene presentata al pubblico nel 1927. Quest'auto e' la prima vettura di normale produzione ad essere disegnata da uno stilista. L'autore e' il leggendario Harley Earl.
Viene fondata la General Motors Japan.
In questo stesso anno la GM Japan apre il suo nuovo impianto di assemblaggio ad Osaka.
Sempre nel 1927 i principi fondamentali del management finanziario sono elencati da Donaldson Brown in un articolo intitolato "Decentralized operations and responsibilities with coordinated control".
1928:viene inaugurato il primo servizio di bus da costa a costa.
Nel 1928 la General Motors Near East tiene la sua prima Dealers' Conference ad Alessandria d' Egitto.
La General Motors India inaugura il primo impianto di assemblaggio indiano.
La trasmissione "clashless synchromesh" viene introdotta da Cadillac. Questa e' la piu' importante innovazione meccanica del 1928.
Chrysler acquisisce la Dodge e presenta al pubblico due nuovi marchi: la DeSoto e la Plymouth: queste vetture hanno prezzi che variano da 670$ a 725$ e si rivolgono ad una clientela di reddito medio.
Nello stesso anno la Chrysler acquista la Dodge Brothers Inc., che si era creata una solida reputazione fabbricando veicoli estremamente affidabili. I fratelli Dodge erano diventati famosi anche per aver costruito la prima automobile in grado di affrontare il Grand Canyon del Colorado.
Sempre durante quest'anno la Chrysler Corporation inaugura delle divisioni separate per la distribuzione delle sue varie linee di auto: Plymouth Motor Corporation, Dodge Brothers Corporation, DeSoto Motor Corporation e Chrysler Sales Corporation.
Anche la Fargo Motor Corp. viene organizzata per gestire il business del trasporto delle auto nuove ai concessionari, su scala nazionale.
L'anno seguente verra' creata la Chrysler Motor Parts Corp. allo scopo di commercializzare i pezzi di ricambio per tutte le linee della Corporation.
Nel corso del 1928 la Auburn Automobile Company acquista dei nuovi stabilimenti a Connersville, Indiana. La Auburn ha 6.300 impiegati e produce 14.700 vetture, delle quali 2.196 vengono esportate dalla Auburn Automobiles Export Shipments.

The videos in this Collection are available in different format, size and definition. We can suggest you the right one for the use you have in mind.

Hi-Res videos from our Collections are available on DVD, CD or directly in your inbox. Clips and movies can also be downloaded from our servers using a PW or uploaded by us to your FTP.
