Love

Horizon

Love is that feeling that unites and opens any horizon in life. Without love, everything is an end in itself.

When love takes you out of yourself, you will be able to overcome all selfishness and willing to offer yourself.

Love is the only true richness, so precious that you can not buy it, you can only receive it as a gift.

Live to love

Love is sufficient for oneself, likes for oneself and for oneself. Love does not look for reasons, it does not seek advantages other than Self. Its advantage lies in the existence. I love because I love, I love to love. Great thing is love if it refers to its principle, if brought back to its origin, if brought back to its source. From there it always takes food to keep flowing. Love is the only one among all the motions of the soul, between the feelings and the affections, with which the creature can correspond to the Creator, even if not on a par; the only one with whom he can reciprocate his neighbor and, in this case, certainly on a par. When God loves, he wants nothing else to be loved, knowing that those who love him will be loved by this same love.

Since God is a consuming fire, he drives away from the spirit of man every kind of coldness, insofar as he intimately approaches with ardent impetus of love. When the soul, leaping towards God, aspires to a more intimate union with him, he exposes himself to the fiery spiritual darts of the divine Sun and, as a tow exposed to the sun's rays, is lit by the fire descended from the sky. This Sun inflames and increases the ardor in the soul and, through this fire, incinerates the obstacles that prevent love from burning more ardently, gives spiritual benefits that make love perfect, inflame the mind so that you love only God of a very ardent love. Moreover, this wisdom inflames the soul so that it will burn with love towards the neighbor, and will make it grow an insatiable desire to the fullness of the union with God.

The reality of love is fundamental in life and is what allows us to realize ourselves. "We live because we love". It is a thought of St. John. It is the thought that tortures every man, when he reflects on his destiny. Every love makes us live: the love of parents, of children, of brothers and sisters, of all men who share the same life as we, the one we receive from the Creator.

The love of man and woman unites two beings in a communion of love to say their tenderness. Two beings who recognize each other for what they are and who become joy for each other, in gratitude and sharing. Everything is born of love and returns there recognizing one only thing in Christ. This love has been lacerated because the tempter has deceived the man: "eat and serve". Thus shattered and shared shattered. Man believed then to understand love and instead he only knew himself. The other has become an object of pleasure. The infernal cycle of pleasures was born, from which true love is cast out.

The man no longer recognized the woman, the brother no longer recognized his brother, a nation wanted to prevail over the other. Certainly in the depths of the heart of man there remains a great aspiration, the cause of his joys and his sadnesses, his hope and his disappointments. He would like to find the lost paradise. Who will open the doors?

Jesus came to teach the ways of love. In his body he "killed hatred", he made the separation wall fall. He wanted to bring us together to teach us true love, not to love like the world, but "as I have loved you". Absolute, radical, unique gift that lowers, to recognize it, at the feet of those who love. Let us reconcile from him.

The language of love is mysterious and largely ineffable. Yet it is so eloquent: always the same always new, like the breath of life, like the beating of the heart. To listen to the voice that speaks in the secret interiority, let us put ourselves to his research and awaken our interest in us, we pay attention to his language that he can express by being born of himself.

How it is possible, however, to grasp its value, which fascinates our time, where the language of love seems incommunicable with our cultural models, which enhance practical efficiency, the production of wealth, substantial and tangible facts. More than a progress of testimony of love, it seems a regression in the possibilities of "acting" love.

In the Gospel we see the touching episode of the poor widow who offers to charity at the majestic temple of Jerusalem her two small change, which was all she possessed. The singularity of the gesture remained veiled, for its modesty, in the eyes of the people, wide open on the magnificence of the offers left by the rich. But she did not remain veiled in the gaze of love: Jesus, called to himself his disciples, said to them: "Truly I say to you, this poor widow has put more than all who have offered in the treasury, because all have put their superfluous , while she, in her poverty, offered everything she possessed".

Here is how the idols of our cultural models are overthrown by the language of love! In the insignificant offer of the poor widow there is one more; in the consistent offerings of the rich there is one less. Is not it paradoxical? Yet it is the glow of truth. The poor widow who offers the two small change gives more, although it can not be said to make charity. His is an unquantifiable donation; it is she herself who becomes a gift, who identifies herself in her giving.

The language of love is expressed in the radicality of its free giving. Love is said and declared in this creative word of progress of the human in history. Descend into your inner self in this secret intimacy, which you can taste in a sublime way of familiarity and confidence in the Eucharist, it will make you available and open, through your reticence, your pains and even your rebellions, to the strength of a universal love.

When the spark of love, created to stand close to His Creator, which is nothing but a devouring fire, immense and uncreated, the fire that the Lord came to bring to the earth, rises to him through secret ascents like a pillar of smoke, of myrrh, of incense and of every aromatic powder, then the soul comes to touch what it is to live in the blessed life; what is true happiness, true delight, divine peace, truth, love.
