RIVIERA D'ULISSE
La Riviera d'Ulisse comprende la costa tra Sperlonga e Scauri, così chiamata per la leggenda che la indica come uno dei punti di sbarco dell’eroe omerico.
E' una zona molto bella, con acque pulite e panorami mozzafiato. Scogliere a picco e spiagge rilassanti, contornato da colline e la Catena dei Monti Aurunci, fino a m.1535 che si affacciano su tutto il golfo di Gaeta, il Circeo, le Isole, il Golfo di Napoli.
A Scauri il Parco della Riviera d'Ulisse comprende l'area protetta di Gianola e Monte di Scauri, con sentieri unici nel Mediterraneo, incluso il Malopasso, Monte d'Oro, e la Spiaggia dei Sassolini, meta hippy negli anni '60 e utilizzata da registi di film e pubblicità.
Scauri è un vivo ma tranquillo paese della Riviera, nel Golfo di Gaeta. Ci sono belle spiagge e baie incantevoli.
A Scauri ci si può rilassare con passeggiate sul lungomare o avventurarsi in un corso di vela, godersi un gelato all'ombra dei pini e dei tamerice o inoltrarsi nella macchia mediterranea del Parco del monte di Scauri, leggere in giardino o visitare il teatro romano o l'antica Minturno, e tanto altro ancora...
Molti i Ristoranti, pizzerie e trattorie. Non mancano Pubs e birrerie, dal semplice ma localmente mitico 'La Birretta' allo 'Scoglio' e il 'Mary Rock' costruiti sull'acqua, ai tipici 'Maryen Plats' e 'Clock House'.
A pochi chilometri Formia, Gaeta, Sperlonga, le terme di Suio.
A due passi il fantastico Parco dei Monti Aurunci, dove, posto unico, si può ammirare il mare tra faggete e (rari in Italia) Corvi Imperiali.
La località è anche un'ottimo punto di partenza per gite giornaliere a Roma, Napoli, le isole, le montagne, i siti archeologici, i monasteri, le regge, le terme...
Roma è ad 1h35' di treno. Con il biglietto BIRG, ad € 10.50 si ha andata e ritorno e tutti i trasporti pubblici del Lazio.

Il Sito Patrimonio Mondiale Unesco della Reggia di Caserta è a circa 50' d'auto (o col treno che ferma di fronte la Reggia).
Montecassino a 30' d'auto. Abbazia di Casamari 1h. E ancora sono facilmente raggiungibili: Giardini di Ninfa, Sermoneta e Valvisciolo, l'eccezionale Parco d'Abruzzo, ecc.

The Lazio region
A beautiful area with wonderful beaches and pristine mountain areas. The Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park distant only 50 minutes by car.
A wide range of activities from sailing to hillwalking to relaxation in the Spas.
Sightseeing to medieval towns, monasteries and fishing villages. Rome is distant only 90 minutes by train and Naples 45 minutes.
The cuisine is at the highest level ranging from fresh seafood to vegetarian meals.
Around Scauri places of interest range from the Spa in Suio (20 minutes by car); the Roman Archeological site (5 minutes by car); the medieval hilltown of Minturno (4 minutes); the Regional Park of Mount Aurunci, one of the biggest in Lazio region and the one claimed to have the highest mountain range closest to the sea (as high as 1535 m), 10 minutes by car; the beauty of Gaeta, the largest city of the area that gives name to the Gulf (15 minutes); the magic of Sperlonga, the white town above the sea (25 minutes); the world famous abbey of Monte Cassino (30 minutes); the World Heritage Site Reggia (royal palace of) di Caserta (30 min.)
These are the places in my mind at the moment. At your arrival you will find brochures about the area so to chose your daily trips to the places described or moving more far to the Isole Ponziane (islands at 1 hour by jetfoil), Naples (50 minutes by train), Rome (1h 40’ by train), Abruzzo National Park (1 hour by car) and so forth.

Scauri / Mount of Scauri Regional Park area
Seaside town sourranded by the mountains of the Aurunci Regional Park (highest peak 1535 m high).
In Scauri the most appreciated thing by tourists is the sea side, with the 5 kms promenade within two hills. I found a special place the Gianola and Mount of Scauri Regional Park: I have worked there as a ranger and still as a tourist every time I could find it a great place to energize, relax, enjoy wilderness and... swim in the sea.
