The
Summer 2010 leg of 'Pandemonium Tour' began
on Saturday night with a fantastic set at the close of the Primavera Sound
Festival in Barcelona, Spain.
The audience's energy was amazing and the
atmosphere helped Neil get over the food poisoning he'd been suffering from all
day, and to give confidence to a new dancer, Helena Dowling, who had replaced
Charlotte Walcott (who was unable to rejoin the tour) and was performing for the
first time with Neil and Chris.
The tour continues on Wednesday 23rd
June 2010 at Castello Visconteo in Pavia, Italy then moves
onto the Glastonbury Festival on Saturday 26th June 2010.
A group
exhibition entitled "Room Divider", curated by writer
and critic Michael Bracewell, will open to the public on
July 3rd at the Wilkinson Gallery in London and includes
a new piece of music by Pet Shop Boys.
"The
grind 2"
is the demo of the piece of music that opens Act 3 of
the ballet score which Chris and Neil recently completed.
The
exhibition "celebrates the relationship between
Romanticism and the machine aesthetic".

2. My girl
3. All over the world (new version)

Christmas”, originally an exclusive Christmas single issued to members of the
Pet Shop Boys fan club in 1997. Both new versions are produced by Marius de
Vries and Pet Shop Boys, based on the original tracks, and have orchestral and
choir arrangements by Matt Robertson and Marius de Vries.
Pet Shop Boys’ arrangement of the Madness classic, “My Girl”, was originally
performed with Suggs and Carl of Madness at “Can You Bear It?”, last year’s
charity benefit for the family of Chris and Neil’s former assistant and close
friend, Dainton Connell, who was tragically killed in a car accident.
The EP also includes the medley of Coldplay’s “Viva la vida” and Pet Shop Boys'
“Domino Dancing” which has been a highlight of the current PSB world tour. This
studio version is produced by Stuart Price.
The EP is being released on both CD and digital download.
Party
Released exclusively in
Brazil for the
holiday market in November 2009,
Party is a
single-disc greatest-hits collection that focuses on tracks that have
proven especially popular in that nation. It also gives a nod to songs
that have featured in certain Brazilian
telenovelas, the most recent example
being "King
of Rome." Although the tracklist
reveals more than a passing similarity to
Story, it's
by no means redundant. Besides, it boasts one of the most charming PSB
album covers ever, what with those colorful balloons printed with
Chris's and Neil's heads.

You need more (9x)
Well it’s tough getting on in the
world
When the sun doesn’t shine
And a boy needs a girl
It’s about getting out of a rut
You need luck
But you’re stuck and you don’t know how
(Don’t have to be)
A big bucks Hollywood star
(Don’t have to drive)
A super car to go far
(Don’t have to live)
A life of power and wealth
(Don’t have to be)
Beautiful but it helps
(Don’t have to buy)
A house in Beverly Hills
(Don’t have to have)
Your daddy paying the bills
(Don’t have to live)
A life of power and wealth
(Don’t have to be)
Beautiful but it helps
You need more
Than a big blank check to be a lover, or
A gulf stream jet to fly you door to door
Somewhere chic on another shore
You need more (6x)
You need love
You need love
You need love
Too much of anything is never

Too much of everything is never enough

A super car to get far
(Don’t have to wear)
A smile much colder than ice
(Don’t have to be)
Beautiful, but it’s nice
You need more
Than the girl handwriting on your wall
A chauffeur driven limousine encore
To drive your wife and lover to a whiter ball
You need more (6x)
You need love
I believe that we can achieve the
love that we need
I believe, call me naive, but love is for free

“The
Loving Kind”
The second Girls
Aloud single release from their new album, "Out Of Control", will be the Pet Shop Boys/Xenomania composition, "The Loving Kind".
The song was
produced by Xenomania, Neil and Chris's involvement being
only in the writing.
Nicola Roberts
continues: “And Neil told us to just sing it how we would
sing it, instead of singing it how he had sung it.”
Cheryl Cole added:
“It’s a bit intimidating as well, you know, having Neil
Tennant teaching you a harmony.”
“I know,” laughs
Sarah Harding. “I said, ‘Could you leave the room so I can
sing it because I feel really uncomfortable.
A benefit concert for
Dainton Connell’s family
is being held at London nightclub ‘Heaven’ on
Friday May 2nd. The event will feature a live performance by the Pet
Shop Boys, plus a huge selection of world-class DJs will be performing,
including Tall Paul, Danny Rampling, Judge Jules, Brandon Block and PSB Chris
Lowe . All proceeds will go to
Dainton Connell’s family.
Pet Shop Boys performed for approximately 35 minutes and the set list was:
Go West
Rent (electro version)
Integral (Perfect Immaculate version)
Suburbia
West End girls (long version)
It’s a sin
My girl (with Suggs and Carl from Madness)
Being boring
Of course, the night was
not just about seeing Pet Shop Boys perform live, it was
about paying tribute in whatever way possible to Dainton
Connell, the Boys’ long-term friend and colleague. The
variety of house music was brilliant.
You can listen to
the PSB demo of ‘My girl’
on the
official
site.
The Bear
Dainton Connell was
killed in a car accident in Moscow. He was in Moscow accompanying Chris Lowe who
was planning to DJ at a friend's nightclub there tonight. The friend driving him
lost control of the car. There was no one else in the car.
Chris Lowe and Neil Tennant are "devastated" by this tragic news. They had known
Dainton for almost 20 years, during which time he had worked for Pet Shop Boys
as security and later as personal assistant. He was also a close friend.
"Dainton was a warm, kind, loveable friend, a huge Arsenal fan and a
larger-than-life character, famous in North London and beyond. We are devastated
by his sudden and tragic death and our thoughts and condolences are with his
wife, Mandy, and their family."
Dainton (also known as "The Bear") accompanied Pet Shop Boys on their tours from
1989 to 2000. He can be seen in the videos for Pet Shop Boys' singles, "Jealousy",
"So hard" and "Was it worth it?" as well as in the Somewhere concert film. We
know that he was a familiar and friendly face to many PSB fans who encountered
him over the years and that they will share in our grief and sorrow.
