Dovrà pur esserci una ragione

nel fuoco che si consuma

nel fumo che diventa polvere

nelle tracce che ci lasciamo dietro

nell'ombra che non ci segue

nel pianto che ci assale al tramonto

e che somiglia all'alba dei nostri giorni.

Dovrà pur esserci una ragione

nell'uccello ferito

che vorremmo ritornasse a volare

nel prima e dopo

nella radice dei giorni

e poi ancora in quel fuoco

 che inesorabilmente si consuma

felice di distruggersi

come se l'unico scopo

fosse annientarsi.

Ma poi mi accorgo

anche senza capire

che non c'è altra speranza

se non nel divenire

fino a quella quiete

dove la mente ora

si rifiuta di andare.

29.3.02

Should even be a reason

in the fire wearing out
the smoke became dust
the traces we are leaving behind
the shadow following us
the tear which assails us at sunset

which resembles the dawn of our days.

Should even be a reason
in the wounded bird

that we would like

coming back to the fly
in the early and late
in the root of the days
and then again in that fire
 which inexorably is extinguishing
happy to self-destroy
as if the only his purpose

was self destruction.

But then I realize

though I don’t understand
there is no other hope

except in the becoming
until to that quiet
where my mind now

refuses to go.
