Tra le case
e vicini alla gente,
nella vita di ogni giorno
fin dal decimo secolo,
siamo segno e luogo della novità

Caronno is a small village
with Roman origins, that in the Middle Ages was especially known for
the presence of monastery dedicated to San Pietro.
The parish church Santa
Margherita Martyr, patron saint of women in labour, was rebuilt
many times; last restoration was made at the end of the nineteenth
century, while the bell tower was re‑built ex novo at the beginning
of the twentieth century. Thanks to the last returnishment of 1992
the church offers a warm and comfortable environment.
Caronno was in ancient
period called Caronno Milanese. Today it's name changed to Caronno
Pertusella because of a big expansion of Pertusella, an old
farmstead. In 1898 an independent parish was created in Pertusella
and it was called S. Alessandro, martyr in Bergamo.
For many centuries the
population was dedicated to farming, following the political events
of Milan and region Lombardy. Within the last fifteen years the
population has grown five times in size, at present Caronno counts
around 15.000 people. The entrepreneurial spirit is shown in many
business activities: today in the area there are about 400
companies.
IVs recommended to visit the
small church dedicated to Purification of BN. Maria, because of its
exquisite painting of B. Campi and P. Lomazzo, two painters belonged
to Luini artistic school (century XVI).
In our parish was burned
Cardinal Giovanni Colombo (1902‑1992), who was Archbishop in Milan
from 1963 to 1980. This was a period of many changes within the
Church. Vatican II Council was renewing the Catholic Church and at
the same time Italy was affected by many rebellious political
movements, like students uprising, red brigades,...
Cardinal Giovanni Colombo is
well known as a wise driving force within the community, both in
Church and in society.
In the church sacristy it's
possible to visit a small museum dedicated to the Cardinal.
in croce.
Non potrà più dire; "Sono troppo cattivo, per poter esser ancora
perdonato", perché non c'è colpa per grande che sia, che non possa
venir lavata in quel sangue.
Vita di Cristo strada
dell'uomo
