World Cup 2012 Milan F2D Combat 3 Trophy Erminio Grassi CAB Barlassina
After the fine (but unusual!) Time in March, with summer temperatures well above average in the north of Italy, in April as they say ... every drop is a barrel ... and in fact even in Milan has sparked a flood in the week prior to the well-established and beloved race World Cup F2D combat planned for this year on the weekend of 14 and 15 April.
Fortunately the night of Friday, the rain of the week gave a little 'truce and the magnificent lawn has absorbed the water, allowing the organizers of the CAB Barlow, who had already labored throughout the week to prepare, to finish the field in time for the start of the competitions.
This year, despite the pre enrollment saw a number of members over 25, in fact have been reduced to 15.
Spanish, English, Ukrainians, Germans, French, Italians were challenged in this now famous competition to win the prestigious trophy dedicated to the memory Erminio Grassi, now in its third edition.
High level of duels, all the best drivers and mechanics were already ready to start at 9.30 am and it was decided to try to dodge the rain and the fact that the organizers had already quickly run the draw, the competitions begin .
Incani Piero (ITA), Vernon Hunt (GRB) and Martha Morel (ESP) were international judges appointed to watch over the proper conduct of the competition supported by the president of the jury tireless fac-totum (80 years played ..) and the team of timekeepers / scorers led by Giuseppe Casarola.
With such similar jury this year there were no errors in the counting and timing, but especially also given by the fair play of the pilots, protests and correctness of assessment, so that the fighting and counts followed one another with such rapidity that at mid-morning fortunately without rain it was decided to go ahead and try to finish the race in one day.
In fact threatening clouds circled around to the field of water Barlassina threatening at any moment. So after a short break around 13:00 resumed throwing, unfortunately interrupted at about 14:30 for a big storm that seemed to flood everything.
But somebody up there gave us a hand and at 15.00 the rain ceased and the launches were able to resume.
Just a Fly Away throughout the competition, and although the model was equipped with the regulatory shut- off, the motor will not accidentally is turned off, and the same has taken to go driven by the thermal wind getting lost in the clouds ..
Too bad, but never have the last word, in fact, just remember, the eppisodio the way back in 1977, when the model of Giulio Benincasa was lost in the woods of the Groane park, not far (at that time it was not planned shut- off), well, last year was found and returned to its rightful owner.
We hope that this model can return to Ukraine.
The combat at the highest level, all of them without exception have a great show, many fights with 3 -4 cuts to the head (which is quite rare). Our Italians have this year had as a spearhead Adriano Molteni, who found himself in the quarter-finals, losing only one match, unfortunately for an error of assessment: thinking of having already lost two cuts and one for too long on the ground, in combat with the Spanish Manuel Mateo, executed a takeoff Z coming immediately disqualified by the judge Piero Incani. Too bad because he could win, so winning 'the podium.
Podium, which is instead 'went to the couple Father and son Mateo, Raul beat fact his father Manuel in the final race after a breathtaking 5-4, if they are given a thrashing without reserve, impeccably sure, but flying aggression that are difficult to see in the family. Congratulations to both of course!
I should point out that Raul is only 18 years old and still juniors, and is a member of the Spanish national team that will be presented at the World Championships in Bulgaria in July.
