Hungarian embroidery
I've done my first
needleworks when I was ten years old or so. I embroidered for example
the pillow-case
in linen on the image. I did also some cross-stitch works, they were
monocoloured (blue or red) with stylized subjects. In Hungary there is
a very rich tradition of needlework, different for every region. I also
learned knitting and crocheting (it was very fashionable in the early
70's). Then came the period that for stitching I had no time at all as
I was too much busy at school and at work (I took my degree in economy
and worked as system organizer). It was after I got married and
transfered in Italy that I've restarted with cross-stitching and
knitting. I've found beautiful projects in the specialized journals.
Here in Italy I learned filet-crocheting, too, it's very popular here.
My mother-in-law is always busy with some work. I've made curtains
representing the four seasons for my kitchen-windows and actually I am
working on a bedcover for my daughter, accordingly to tradition in
these regions of Italy.
