Niella Belbo - Cuneo - Italy

Welcome!!!

Niella Belbo, situated at 785 mts. above sea level, was mentioned for the first time in 1033 in a document signed by the Marquis Adalberto.
During the 1300's it belonged to the Marquises Del Carretto, then from 1600 on, it fell under the Savoy juridisction

The village still retains its medieval lay/outs, characterized by steep and narrow roads, some of which keep their stone pavements.

The medieval entrance's gate has a peculiar name: it is in fact called "Arco dei Francesi" ("French's Arch") as an army composed of 12.000 french soldiers passed trough the village in April 1796, during Napoleon's Italian campaign.

The Parish church of Saint Giorgio, situated on the main square, goes back to 1600. Next to it the former rectory, a valuable 17th century building

The wild and unspoilt landscape, with its lovely colours, is the ideal place for excursions and walks.

Excursions in mountain bike or with horses can be made along the track called "Sentiero Girasole" ("Sunflower") which is about 30 Km long
