The Priests of Buttigliera Alta

1) After the Parish erection in 1595, and made him independent from that of Avigliana, the first Priest was Don Ludovico Mattiotto from Favria, which had been administering this Parish for the last years of 1500 up to September 4 1653 when he died. He had to have been very young when Buttigliera was entrusted to him, sees the duration of his operated. This Priest was select from the Suggestion of the Notable ones of the Country composed by Valetti Michele, Moitre Andrea, Beautiful Giacomo, Ghigliotto Andrea, Bramante Giovanni, Valetti Giacomo, Moitre Pietro, Chiabotto Bertino, Boero Stefano, Ghigliotto Filippo, Boero Michele, Reviglio Pietro, Andreis Giacomo, Moitre Giovanni, Margrita Giacomo, Bertinetti Graziano, Facio Red Baptist, Rossetti Biagio and Aschieri Battista.

7) Don Rore in 1684 changed this Parish with that of Valgioie, from where Don Michael Anthony Caveglia originated, which had been Priest since March 26 up to May 20 1734 when it died. And buried under the floor of the church, in correspondence of the font, next to the door, entering on the right.

8) Don Giovanni Thomas Stornello, that arrived from Monastery Of Lanzo, taken on consignment the Parish the June 20 1734 and stayed up to the day of his decease the April 7 1764. And buried also him in church to the height of the Greatest altar toward the Madonna of the Rosary.

9) The May 13 1764, were chosen Priest Don Charles Emanuele Ignazio Bussi from Turin and he operated up to June 20 1768 when it was transferred to the Parish of St. Raffaele Cimena.

10) In 1768, the September 25, from Carrù (Cuneo) Don Charles Joseph Borghese came and stayed in our Country up to May 29 1772, his death's day. The place of his burial is next to that of Don Fornello.

11) His successor, always from Carrù, was already the brother, Don Bartholomew Borghese. He had remained to the guide of the Parish since October 4 1772 to April 9 1794.

12) Don Michael Andrew Paciotti, Caesar's child, deriving from Avigliana, crowds the Parish, unfortunately, for alone 10 months up to his death the March 15 1795. it causes her of this sudden death it was the fact that, one day, to the dusk, he was attacked in the house by three thieves been unknown and from which was wounded to the breast. From that day for the fear it was not gotten back anymore and it died of heartbreak.

13) It arrived from With the St. Giovanni Don Joseph Bernard Gallino, already Vicecurato of St. Giovanni in Avigliana; he died the May 15 1802, to the 36 year-old age, because of an illness lasted more than three months that he had forced him, even, to publicly resign himself/herself/themselves on the occasion of the Put Saint.

14) The last Priest named by the Carrons was Don Joseph Anthony Maria Lerda of Caraglio (Cuneo), already Vicecurato of Saint Maria in Avigliana. He was established to Buttigliera in October 1802 he remained actually to the happened decease the January 10 1850.

15) It came instead from Volvera Don Domenico Peretti, Priest from February 17 1850, actually to April 1 1893, day of the decease. And it's snoop to notice that, almost in the same days, her twin sister died, that was also his perpetual.

16) Don Thomas Migliore, from Villastellone, was the only one to become, subsequently, Monsignore. He made solemn entry the November 19 1893 and died the February 27 1929. The elderly ones of the Country still remember that, as it was use to the epoch for the Bishops, the corpse he was systematized, before the funeral, on a sort of Chair Gestatoria.

 17) Don Bernardino Costamagna, from Villafranca Piemonte, it arrived in our Country the July 28 1929 and it stayed up to May 20 1945, day when moved to the Sanctuary of the Sacred Heart of Maria to Turin. He had been the first one named by the Curia not anymore, but directly from the archbishop of Turin. it Stays engraved in the memoirs of the Buttiglieresis his operated during the Second world war when, in a particular occasion, he/she succeeded with his magistral mediation in avoiding that the Country was given to the flames by the Germans.

18) It arrived from Balme Don Lawrence Guglielmotto: from this moment it is in practice history of our days. From his arrival in the 1945 crowds the Parish, before moving himself to another in Turin, up to 1962. He was established then in Turin up to the death, happened a long time ago some.

19) He was replaced by Don Angel Musso  of Turin, up to 1969, his death's year. One year before Ferriera had been erect to independent Parish with Don Anthony Zambonetti  from Balangero, to which happened in the 1980 Don Joseph Raglia by St. Francis to the Campo. Always in the 1968 Don Musso had to suffer the dramatic and sacreligious subtraction of the ancient wooden statue of the Madonna of the Woods.

20) Don Aldo William Vallino came from Mathi Canavese , that has been with us up to 1997 for then to retire himself in the native Country for a deserved rest.

21) From 1997 the parish is straight at first from Father Vladimiro Robak with Father Francis and subsequently from Father Michael.

22) Father Vladimiro has been helped since 2002 by Father Thomas and Father Mirko that they have taken the place of Father Michael.

22) From September 13 2003 the parish is straight from Don Luigi Palaziol, deriving from the parish of Collegno.

  In these 400 and more years, as things could still be written on operates him of the Priests and coordinators, especially the most ancient, since of the last ones it is in the memory and bottom the eyes of the whole developed job, without solution of continuity, from the one to the other thin to reach Center Family erecting him.
