Welcome to OUR WORLD

Our town: Pesaro

Pesaro is the main city of the Marche region. It is situated on the Adriatic Sea about 150 miles south of Venice. It is surrounded by hills and closed in a small valley where the Foglia River flows to the south.

What are its origins ?

The name Pesaro is probably derived from the former name of the Foglia River, which was “Pisaurus”. The city’s origins go back to ancient history as people have occupied this region since the 9th century BC.

What is it like ?

With four kilometres of golden sandy beaches offering water sports and beach fun, it is not surprising that Pesaro is an important tourist centre. Away from the beach through the charming streets there are plenty of museums, theatres and shopping areas . Up into the surrounding hills there is still more to discover – villas, castles and villages tucked away in the vast pine forests.

As a business centre and home to many companies Pesaro has another side to it as a busy urban area.

Culturally Pesaro is very rich. The historic centre is complemented by museums and galleries hosting varied exhibitions including a rich collection of ceramic art.

The city’s most famous son is the composer, Rossini and you can find his name everywhere – from the small museum celebrating his birthplace to the famous music school, the Conservatory.

Our Homes

In my class some students live in a house and some live in a flat. Most of us have a big garden and many rooms (about 10) because we live in big families: an average family consists of 5 people.

Our Favourite Food

Most of us like pizza and pasta because we are Italian .

We think our food is the best in the world.

Some students like chips (just a few).

We also like local food like “cappelletti” ( a kind of pasta in meat broth) and home made piadina (a kind of flat bread).

Our Dream Holidays

Most of my friends would like to go  to Exotic and Tropical places like the Carabbean Sea, the Maldives and the Red sea. The most curious would like to go strange places like the Land of the Fair (Simone Finzi), Alaska ( I ) and Texas (Francesco Calculli).

Jobs

I interviewed my friends about what kind of jobs they would like to do.

Many boys and girls would like to be a doctor.

I (Simone ) would like to be a vet and  so would Francesco,  Marco and Michele would like to be doctors and Lucia isn't sure if she wants  to be a doctor or a dancer.

Francesco likes drawing very much  and that’s why he wants to draw comics. Benedetta is  very good at drawing  but she prefers to be an architect. Benedetta would like to be a stylist and Marina would like to be a secretary.

Federica would like to be a sports journalist. Denis would like to work in the same field but he would like to be a coach.

Our Hobbies

In my class two girls like going to the gym and doing physical exercises. Most of the boys in the class like sports: football (we are the best soccer players in the world!), volleyball and basketball (we have a local basketball team called Scavolini). Some like watching football matches on TV (I am a Juventus fan).  Two boys like unusual sports like canoeing and horse riding.  Some prefer videogames and dancing. One of us is an artist (he will go to an Art school in Urbino, a tiny Renaissance village) and he loves drawing (he’s very good at it).

Means of Transport

In my class  10 boys go to school by bike and 2 walk to school.

In my class there isn’t anybody that goes to school by car
