Release Dates. UK: 29 maggio 1970 - USA: 11 aprile 1970 - Italy: approssimativamente tra maggio e giugno del 1970.
Brief Statistics.
(1) Il disco è la colonna sonora del film omonimo di Michelangelo Antonioni, che prese solo tre brani già finiti (degli otto disponibili) dai Pink Floyd durante le session di registrazione a Roma: Heart Beat, Pig Meat, Crumbling Land ed il più famoso Come In Number 51, Your Time Is Up, un remake di Careful with that axe, Eugene. Poi il regista decise di rivolgersi ad altri musicisti: ecco perchè la colonna sonora definitiva contiene anche brani dei The Kaleidoscope, The Grateful Dead, Patti Page, The Youngbloods, Jerry Garcia, Roscoe Holcomb e John Fahey. Il disco fu mixato tra gennaio e febbraio del 1970 a Londra.
(2) Durante le sessions della registrazione della colonna sonora, il gruppo registrò altri quattro outtake: Oenone (uno strumentale), Fingal's Cave, Rain in the Country e Violent Sequence (quest'ultimo poi diventò la base per il capolavoro Us and Them). I primi tre pezzi fino a poco tempo fa erano reperibili solo su vecchi bootleg, come Omayyad, poi sono stati svelati dalla Rhino Records e da appassionati.
(3) Le copertine del disco possono essere divise in due tipi: la normale versione inglese, con la scena del film con i due attori, i crediti completi in alto a destra e la famosa striscia bianca con il titolo a "stelle e strisce" sul bordo destro, diffusa in quasi tutti i paesi del mondo; la seconda versione uscita in Francia, che mostrava una scena diversa del film, con un campo lungo, con il titolo completo a "stelle e strisce" a sinistra in alto (in francese) ed i nomi delle band in basso a destra. interessante ed unica era infine la versione del disco stampata in Italia, diversa da tutte le altre, che riportava lo stesso motivo del film francese, ma più in piccolo e su sfondo bianco, e con i riferimenti del film in italiano.
