“Ho scritto questa canzone un paio d’anni fa come rimprovero all’industria musicale. Lavoravo per un’importante compagnia discografica londinese che voleva plasmarmi in quello che secondo loro era il prototipo del successo commerciale (ai tempi, Craig David). Mi dicevano che dovevo fare un disco che avesse tutte le giuste caratteristiche del pop e somigliare a Craig David. Sapevo che una cosa simile m’avrebbe condotto al disastro più totale. Così, tornando a casa ho scritto ‘Grace Kelly’ e da quel momento in poi ho deciso di scrivere canzoni sempre secondo le mie idee e non seguendo le indicazioni altrui”. |
