Michele Bianchini studied with Nino Carta in Italy and with Armen Boyagian in New York. In 1990 he reached the final of the Verdi competition in Busseto and made his debut as Sarastro in Mozart’ s Magic Flute  with the AS.LI.CO. organization in Milan.

 

In the following years he sang the roles of Mephistopheles ( Faust ) in Sassari ( with Alain Guingal conducting and Beppe De Tomasi directing ); Sparafucile in Auckland, New Zealand; Oroveso with Nicola Martinucci; Timur in Bilbao, Spain; Colline in Athens ( with Paolo Olmi conducting and Lina Wertmuller directing ); Zaccaria in Italy.

 

In Auckland in 1996 he gave his first performance in the title role in Don Giovanni with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Stephen Barlow and again at the Victoria State Opera in Melbourne where, a few months later, he returned to sing Der Geisterbote in Die Frau ohne Schatten with Simone Young. The following year he sang the role of Il Commendatore in Ferrara, Italy, under Claudio Abbado. In 1997 he made his United States debut as Don Giovanni in Portland, Oregon, where he returned later as Mephistopheles with Stewart Robertson conducting. In the States he also sang for Opera Pacific ( Don Alfonso ), Glimmerglass Opera ( Scarpia ), Cincinnati (Leporello and Mephistopheles ), Detroit and Miami ( Don Basilio ).

 

In 2000 he made other debuts with the roles of Selim in Turco in Italia; Banco in Macbeth; Alidoro in La Cenerentola ( Rome and Palermo ); the King in Aida at the Barbican Centre, London and Parma and the title role in Don Giovanni  at Glyndebourne.

 

In 2001 he sings the roles of Don Basilio at the Florida Grand Opera (Miami), Padre Guardiano at the Istambul Theatre, Banco in Trapani, Alidoro (La Cenerentola) in Palermo, Frere Laurent (Romeo et Juliette) in Lyon, Count Rodolfo (La Sonnambula) in Pavia, Como, Cremona, En Passant (Les Oiseaux de Passage, by Fabio Vacchi) in Teatro Comunale of Bologna.

 

In 2002 he is, Berg’ s Der Doktor Wozzeck, in Germany; Don Pedro, Berlioz’ s Beatrice et Benedict, in Bologna; Timur in Las Palmas, Spain; the four villains, Offenbach’ s Les contes d’ Hoffmann, in Italy; Lorenzo, Bellini’ s Capuleti e Montecchi, in Bari; Don Basilio, Rossini’s Barber of Seville, again in Bologna.

 

In 2003 he has performed in Spain as Mefistofele in the Mefistofele by Arrigo Boito; then in Rome for a contemporary opera and in Germany for a tour of Aida in the role of the King. He was also in Wildbad, July, as the Duke in Torvaldo e Dorliska by G. Rossini. Then he made his debut at Teatro Alla Scala in Milan as Angelotti in October. Later he was again Alidoro in Cenerentola at Teatro Petruzzelli of Bari.

 

In 2004 Bianchini was Leporello in Cincinnati, USA, in June; then he made his debut as Ferrando, Trovatore, in Caracalla. He also performed Ramfis and Zaccaria in Insbruck, Aug. and then the title role in Le nozze di Figaro in Seul, South Corea, Oct. 04.

 

In 2005 he performed Ashby in Palma de Mallorca( La Fanciulla del West), Sparafucile e Zaccaria in Circuito Lombardo, Don Geronio( Turco in Italia) in Turin, Lord Sidney( Il viaggio a Reims) in Chieti, Il Commendatore in Cagliari with Ruggero Raimondi as Don Giovanni.

 

 In 2006 he was again DonGiovanni, Zaccaria,Timur, Pistola in Falstaff.

In 2007 Michele Bianchini performed as Mephistopheles in Maribor, Slovenia, as Tom, Un Ballo in Maschera, in Cagliari, as Sparafucile, Rigoletto, for Narni Openair and as Alidoro, La Cenerentola, in San Severo.

 

                                                                                                                                                                                                   

Michele Bianchini has also undertaken a large number of concert performances including Stabat Mater by Rossini ( broadcast by the Italian public television, RAI 1 ) and Petite Messe Solemnelle  with Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, both under the baton of Paolo Olmi.
