GRADING.

Grading is RECORD first, then COVER. Most records have been playgraded, and only few were graded visually, for I have thousands of records and I don't always have the time to play each record I wish to sell or trade.  However, you can always ask me to play each record you wish to buy or trade if you don't feel safe. The scale is:

Sealed = factory sealed

M- = nearly as new, played only once or twice with the greatest care

EX = very nice record, played few times with care. Only the slightest flaws will occur here.

VG++ = still a nice record, played some times, only few light noises

VG+ = disc has been played many times, there are some surface noises that you'll probably tolerate

VG = decent copy, many surface noises but still playable

G and F = beat record. I graded with G the records that played through in my system, while I graded with F the ones that skipped at least once*.

Note - This will also depend on the system you have. It's always possible that, in your system, a record graded G skips and a record graded F doesn't.  Consider these grades equivalent in terms of wear.

Assume that cover grades reflect, in terms of wear, the scale used above about vinyl. Just consider, however, that the way a record plays depends on the system you play it on. The grade I assign to each record reflects the way a record plays on my system.  Keep in mind, however, that I am a collector and not a full time dealer, so I wish to treat you the same way I wish to be treated when I buy my records. I absolutely don't want to argue over gradings...  if you aren't satisfied, I'm not! And if you have any trouble about one record you received from me (I haven't had any complaint in many years I've been sending out lists, but it may happen), please get in touch and I'll guarantee an agreement.

ABBREVIATIONS:

co = each sort of cut-out

gf = gatefold cover

ins = insert(s)

is = original inner sleeve (not indicated on all records; if it's not, please ask because the record may have it the same)

RI = reissue

sc/sfc/sbc/ss/sl = sticker(s) or stamp(s) respectively on cover/front cover/back cover/inner sleeve/label(s)

tc = taped cover

wc/wfc/wbc/ws/wl = writing(s) respectively on cover/front cover/back cover/inner sleeve/label(s)

WLP = white label promo

An 's' before sc, wc... means "small"

Note: for I have the bad habit of adding/deleting/changing abbreviations from list to list, it's always possible that some abbreviation I used isn't included in the above. CONDIZIONI.

Viene valutato prima il DISCO, poi la COPERTINA. La maggior parte dei dischi è stata valutata dopo l'ascolto, anche se alcuni dischi sono stati valutati visualmente: ho migliaia di dischi e non ho sempre il tempo di suonare ogni disco che desidero vendere o scambiare. In ogni caso, potete sempre chiedermi di suonare ogni disco che desideriate acquistare o scambiare se non vi sentite sicuri. La scala è:

Sealed = sigillato di fabbrica

M- = quasi come nuovo, suonato una o due volte con la massima cura.

EX = eccellente, suonato poche volte con cura: solo imperfezioni minime.

VG++ = buone condizioni, solo qualche leggero e saltuario rumore di fondo.

VG+ = discrete condizioni, presenza più continua ma ancora tollerabile di rumori di fondo.

VG = decente, presenza costante ma non oppressiva di rumori di fondo.

G e F = mediocre, grossi problemi nell'ascolto. Ho indicato con G i dischi che sul mio impianto non "saltano", con F quelli che "saltano" almeno in un punto*.

Nota - Questo dipende anche dall'impianto usato per l'ascolto. Pertanto è sempre possibile che sul vostro piatto un disco che io ho valutato G salti e, viceversa, uno che io ho valutato F non lo faccia. Assumete i due gradi equivalenti in termini di usura.

Assumete che le condizioni delle copertine rispecchino, in termini di usura, quelle dei vinili. Considerate inoltre che il modo in cui un disco suona dipende pesantemente dal tipo di sistema usato per l'ascolto: i gradi sopra usati si riferiscono a come un disco suona sul mio sistema. Sappiate comunque che, essendo io un collezionista e non un negoziante, è mia intenzione trattare ognuno di voi come vorrei essere trattato io quando acquisto i miei dischi, e quindi non voglio assolutamente "barare" sulle condizioni nè discutere su esse... se voi non sarete soddisfatti, non lo sarò neanche io!  Qualsiasi problema voi riscontriate (sono molti anni che scambio dischi tramite liste e non è mai accaduto, ma non si può mai sapere) non esitate a contattarmi e troveremo una soluzione.

ABBREVIAZIONI:

co = qualsiasi tipo di copertina "tagliata"

gf = copertina apribile

ins = inserto

is = busta interna originale (indicata solo su alcuni dischi - dove non è indicato, chiedete, perchè potrebbe esserci ugualmente)

RI = ristampa

sc/sfc/sbc/ss/sl = adesivo(i) o timbratura(e) rispettivamente su copertina/fronte copertina/retro copertina/busta interna/etichetta(e)

tc/ts = copertina/busta interna riparata con nastro adesivo

wc/wfc/wbc/ws/wl = scritta(e) rispettivamente su copertina/fronte copertina/retro copertina/busta interna/etichetta(e)

WLP = promo con etichetta bianca

Nota: poichè ho la pessima abitudine di aggiungere/togliere/modificare le abbreviazioni da lista a lista, può darsi che io abbia usato qualche abbreviazione non spiegata sopra.  In questo caso, o per qualsiasi ulteriore chiarimento, inviatemi una e-mail e saprò dirvi tutto quello che avete bisogno di sapere.
