Scientific curriculum,

Massimo Negrotti, since 1980 Full Professor of Sociology of knowledge at the Universities of Parma and Genoa, is now Director of IMES-LCA (Istituto Metodologico Economico Statistico - Lab for the Culture of the Artificial) at the University of Urbino. His main areas of interest are cybernetics, methodology and the culture of the artificial. During the period 1970-1980 he studied the possible applications of cybernetical models to the social self-regulating processes, and, then, the systems approach to the cultural evolution.
Since 1980 he carried out theoretical studies on the relationship between culture and information technologies, and surveys on the AI people  in Europe and in the USA. On both the above subjects he reported  in several conferences and lectures (among them Paris, Stockholm, Los Angeles, Berkeley, Santa Barbara, Santa Clara, Ames, Chicago, Santa Cruz, Buffalo, Austin, Firenze, Rome, Torino, Trieste, Venezia, Salerno, Bari, Bologna, Brighton, Tokyo, Strassbourg, Lugano, Geneve, Lausanne, Innsbruck, Odense, Ålborg)  and in many Italian and international journals (Sociologia (Rome) Studi di sociologia (Milan)  Sociologia e ricerca sociale (Milan) Computer Compacts (Amsterdam), AI & Society (London) Applied Artificial Intelligence  (New York), Futures (London), Leonardo (ISAST - MIT - San Francisco), Bulletin of Science Technology & Society (Sage, Toronto), Design Issue (MIT - Chicago), Data manager, (Milan) Informatica e documentazione (Rome), Informatica Oggi (Milan)). He is now working on the socio-cultural and techno-methodological premises and regularities of the artificial, conceived as a general area of research.

He is part of the Teaching Committee of the Dottorato di Ricerca (Ph. D.) in Disegno e Metodi di Sviluppo Prodotto (Virtual Prototypes and Real Products) of the Milan Polytechnic, Faculty of Engineering, and of the Teaching Committee of the Dottorato di Ricerca (Ph.
