Sella Chianzutan in circa 15 Km south of Tolmezzo, at 950m
(3110ft), in
Carnia country, between the Udine and Pordenone provinces.
To go to the
railway you must follow the alpine path n°806, starting 100m south of the hotel of
Sella Chianzutan. Trekking time is about 1h 40'. At the bifurcation you can go right on a more hard path.
It go directly to
the telpherage upper station at 1652m (5420ft). By left direction just a valley where you
can join the track to the pass at middle railway length.
The environment are very nice.
The quary is very charming. Here I foun an old waggon semi-dismantled
(Photo 52). This and the other are completely woodem built, with a hand
break system. Here was not use any loco but a road tractor amd perhaps
some horses or mules.
The wagon are circa 1100*2100mm. I saw rails hight 70mm
and 80mm. Ties are standard metallic bot wooden long 1000mm.

Sella Chianzutan si trova a sud di Tolmezzo nella Valle di
Verzeghis.
Per raggiungere la ferrovia bisogna seguire il sentiero 806 che
parte dalla strada a circa 100m a sud dell'albergo. Si sale prima su
strada sterrata fino a Casera Mongranda, poi nel bosco per più di un'ora.
Arrivati al bivio indicato in cartina si può salire a dx fino al
capolinea della teleferica, il sentiero diventa un po' esposto. L'altra
possibilità è di seguire l'806 fino alla valle successiva da cui poi si
vede chiaramente la ferrovia e la si raggiunge, camminando sui prati, alla
forcella di metà percorso. Il paesaggio è incantevole.
I vagoni hanno dimensioni di circa 1100*2100mm. Le
rotaie viste sono alte 70mm oppure 80mm. Le traverse sono sia metalliche
normali sia di legno lunghe 1000mm.
