Oasis LBL/SIL v Wurzels DLBIA

From "The Sun"

CIDER-SWIGGING legends The Wurzels’ nutty version of the Oasis hit Don’t Look Back In Anger is to go head-to-head with the Gallaghers’ new single.

The West Country combo, who had a No1 with Combine Harvester in 1976, have recorded the song without permission.

It will battle against Oasis’ Little By Little/She Is Love in the charts after EMI record bosses decided to release both the songs on September 23.

The Oo-ar-sis mix is sure to infuriate Noel and Liam.

Tommy Banner of The Wurzels visited Bizarre’s Wapping HQ and told me: “Bring on Oasis! We reckon they’re a bunch of wimps and we can ’ave ’em.”

Amazing start to US tour!

From oasisinet:

Oasis US tour got off to an eventful start in Fort Lauderdale last night when Liam's voice failed part way into the set, during Go Let It Out.

However, instead of stopping the show Noel stepped up to the mic in front of the sell out crowd at the 3,000 capacity open air Pompano Beach Amphitheater and delivered an amazing two hour performance, including a seven song acoustic set and an awesome full band version of Neil Young's "Hey Hey My My". Fans who saw the show said it was incredible.

Liam's vocal problems are thought to be the result of the long plane flight to Florida and he is expected to be fine for tomorrow's show in Orlando.

If you were at this amazing show we want to hear from you. Email your review to reviews@oasisinet.com and we'll put it on the website.

Oasis star Noel claimed the veteran rockers only good album is Let it Bleed.
"The rest of the them, I just can't sit through all that nonsense," he told Maxim magazine.
"They should just call it a day. I would like to say to them, 'Have you got anything better to do?' I mean, surely to God."

Speaking about System Of A Down, Noel said: "Of all the bands that have gone before and all the bands that'll be in the future, I was around when the worst was around.

"The most civil and reasonable bunch"

Not only were OASIS the top act on-stage at 'T in The Park' last weekend, but their off-stage behaviour was apparantly first class too!

Organisers of the Scottish festival have praised the way the band conducted themselves. All this despite the well-publicised spat with that gimp from Starsailor.

From The Daily Record
Site manager Colin Rodger said: "This festival ran very smoothly with very few tales of woe to emerge.

"The good weather made for good spirits.

"Even dealing with the bands was a smooth exercise - I'd say that Oasis were the most civil and reasonable bunch you could hope for."

Oasis scrap with Starsailor in Scotland

OASIS and STARSAILOR were involved in a backstage fight yesterday (July 13) at T In The Park after Starsailor frontman James Walsh asked Noel Gallagher about a remark he made about him recently in the NME.

Liam Gallagher became involved and was physically restrained by one of his security guards after the spat degenerated into a near brawl. The rock ‘n roll row began in mid-afternoon when Walsh approached Noel and asked him why he had called him "a cock" in a recent interview. Noel replied: "I don’t know what you’re talking about. But you must be a cock then and by the way, you’re wearing my t-shirt."

Within minutes, frontman Liam became involved. "Liam came over and squared up to me," Walsh told NME.COM this morning (July 14), "He puffed up his little pigeon chest and said: ‘Don’t ever interupt my brother’s interview again [Noel had been doing a number of interviews in the backstage area at the time]. If someone says you are a cock, then you are one. That’s it.’ He then got his security guards over and one held him back while I was talking to another one. It all just got a bit out of hand."

Walsh said he thought the entire thing was "quite funny". "I was a huge fan of Oasis," he added, "We’re a band who were inspired by them. It tarnishes the spirit of it." Oasis could not be reached for comment this morning.

Both bands move from T In The Park to the Witnness Festival just outside of Dublin today. Security is bound to be high in a bid to keep the both camps apart. Despite the row, Walsh described Starsailor’s appearance at the festival as "amazing – it was better than Glastonbury."

On the mainstage, Oasis ruled the roost, dragging most of the NME Stage headliners Basement Jaxx’s prospective fans across the site to watch them. It was the first time they had played at T In The Park - in front of their fervent Scottish fans – since 1994. Oasis’ set, including ‘Columbia’, ‘Hello’ and a raft of new material from current album ‘Heathen Chemistry’, was almost the same as that played last week at their three day weekend at Finsbury Park in London.

Oasis to tour Australia again

Oasis plan to tour Australia again. Noel Gallagher says they want to put bad memories from a previous promotional trip behind them.

Oasis are currently touring Europe and will head off to the US in August.
Following a handful of extra UK dates during September, the band will visit the Far East and are likely to play the Australian gigs shortly after.

Noel told Australian newspaper the Herald Sun the band needed to complete some unfinished business.

"We were rotten every night we played," he said.

"It was awful. When we started to draw a plan of action for this year I said 'We've got to go back to Australia' and everyone was like 'Why? We didn't have a good time last time'.

"And I said 'We have to go back, if that's the only time we ever go, it cannot be left like that'. We've got unfinished business. I have to say in our defence it was the end of a nine-month world tour and I think everyone was verging on alcoholism.

"There were a lot of drugs about, I was nearly 13kg overweight. But you live and learn."
"Plus I wouldn't mind actually seeing Australia. People say to me, 'Did you see Sydney Harbour or the Opera House?'
"I say, 'Er no and no'. 'What did you do?' 'I sat in the hotel bar for two weeks'. Ridiculous. I plan on enjoying it this time, not in the way I did last time, obviously."

It is rumoured that Oasis will tour Australia in October as part of the Livid Festival.

Oasis film video for "Little By Little"

Oasis have been busy filming the video for 'Little By Little', which is the next single (aparantly with 'She Is Love' as part of the band's first Double A-side release).

From Xfm Online
Oasis were filming the video for their next single ‘Little By Little' on location near Moorgate in London yesterday, with a little help from 'Trainspotting' actor Robert Carlyle.

The video for the third single off ‘Heathen Chemisty’, is being shot in a variety of locations and venues over three days in the capital by the famed directors Max & Dania from the production company Bullet (who have previously worked on videos for other uncompromising, world renowned rock artists like Craig David, Ronan Keating and So Solid Crew)

While shooting started on Monday (the day directly after the band’s Finsbury Park concerts) Oasis themselves only joined the filming yesterday (9th July) and were said to be “bearing up really well” despite their punishing schedule.

The filming took place on Lackington Street (renamed Heathen Street for the shoot) in the City of London, EC2 and featured Noel busking for change while surrounded by industrious city types.

Liam’s role seemed to be more akin to that of Richard Ashcroft in The Verve’s ‘Bittersweet Symphony’ video, with the singer dressed in a huge white parka, bumping into various members of the public. One of whom turned out to be Hamish Macbeth himself - actor Robert Carlyle, who gets knocked over and is helped out of the gutter by the Liam.

According to a spokesman, the video is about “A little man who grows up, with the band watching” with Carlyle “playing the leading role”.

No release date has been set for ‘Little by Little’ as yet.

"Little by Little" video!

From bigred3 (tnx):

"Noel (alone) was spotted this morning filming the video for "Little By Little".
The location was the doorway of CityGate House, which is near Dominion St in Moorgate (literally 50 yards from my workplace).
Noel is basically playing an acoustic guitar, sitting in a doorway whilst passers-by are dropping money into a hat. Of course, this might just be part of the video, but I was lucky enough to be one one of the passers-by in the vid, so if you see anyone in a purple Fred Perry zip-top, it's me!!!"

Third single news

After the merry-go-round of rumours and different 'confirmations', it is now looking as though the next single WILL be a Double A-side.

News straight from Noel's mouth in a Radio 1 interview suggests it will consist of 'She Is Love' & 'Little By Little'. 'My Generation' will complete the single as a B-side.

Oasis rock Finsbury!

The band played a sold out, open air show at Finsbury Park in front of 40,000 fans. The band's set was comprised mainly of songs from their current album 'Heathen Chemistry', as well classic singles including 'Some Might Say', 'Live Forever' and 'Don't Look Back In Anger'.

In this week's NME
Oasis on Oasis - on the eve of their Finsbury Park dates, find out what the band really think of each other… and who they'd like to hang on stage

However, their set closed with a rousing cover of The Who's 'My Generation', dedicated to Entwistle by singer Liam Gallagher. The bassist was found dead in a Las Vegas hotel room last week.

Liam, dressed in a full length coat with various patterns and patches stitched on, was on fine form throughout - berating journalists for the mixed reception to their new album, and proclaiming himself the true spirit of rock and roll.

Unfortunately, by the time Oasis took to the stage at 8.30pm, Finsbury Park resembled a mud bath in places, with persistent and heavy showers throughout the day plaguing sets from support bands including The Coral, Soundtrack Of Our Lives, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Charlatans.

Fans were unfazed by the mud. One, who had travelled down from Liverpool for the gig told NME.COM: "We've been down here for most of the day, and came prepared. I've not seen Oasis since they played Knebworth, so a bit of rain won't spoil it!"

Organisers also put artificial flooring across the grass at the front of the stage to ensure the safety of concertgoers.

Oasis played:

'Fucking In The Bushes'
'Hello'
'The Hindu Times'
'Hung In A Bad Place'
'Go Let It Out'
'Columbia'
'Morning Glory'
'Stop Crying Your Heart Out'
'Little By Little'
'D'you Know What I Mean'
'Cigarettes And Alcohol'
'Live Forever'
'Better Man'
'She's Electric'
'Born On A Different Cloud'
'Acquiesce'
'Force Of Nature'
'Don't Look Back In Anger'
'Some Might Say'
'My Generation'
The band return for two more nights at Finsbury Park tomorrow and Sunday (July 6-7).

Great success for HC!

Bit of a foregone conclusion but here's what Worldpop have to say about the album:

"Oasis look set to topple Eminem's reign at the top of the album charts. Oasisn' new album, Heathen Chemistry is currently outselling The Eminem Show by a huge margin. 'In some cases it's as high as 10:,' an HMV spokesman told worldpop."

Noel attacks Albarn and Yorke

Oasis star Noel Gallagher has launched an astonishing attack on rock rivals Blur and Radiohead.
During a foul-mouthed interview to promote the group's North American tour, he called Damon Albarn a "fake" and Thom Yorke a "misery".

He said: "If you need depressing music, I do believe there's a band called Radiohead currently residing in the R section of your local record store. It's very, very, very dark."
He went on: "But with Blur and Radiohead, it's purely personal. I actually like their music.
"But I just think Radiohead are f****** miserable bastards. I think their attitude leaves a lot to be desired. They're like, 'Don't interview me, don't photograph me, but please buy records'.
"If ever there was a bad advert for being in a group, it's that lot, because being in a group should be a celebration.
"It's like, 'Oh the ice age is coming.' It's like, 'No, it's not'. The ice age is not coming, because two years ago you were telling me that global warming was coming. Now make your f****** mind up!

"And if Thom Yorke knows something that we don't, then can he just enlighten us please? As for the idiot Damon Albarn from Blur, I could talk about him all f******' day, if you like. He's faking it. Albarn's Gorillaz is fake music by a fake band. One of his songs is now advertising chewing gum. Mind-numbing music for a mind-numbing experience."

Oasis, who headline T In The Park in two weeks, release new album Heathen Chemistry on Monday. The album gets its title from a T-shirt bearing the slogan The Society Of Heathen Chemists that Noel bought near his home in Ibiza, Spain.

Noel wants Old Firm in the Premiership

Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher has backed calls for the Old Firm to be allowed to join the English Premiership.

Noel, who supports Manchester City and Celtic, has taken a stronger interest in Scottish football since he began dating Edinburgh beauty Sara MacDonald.

He said: "My girlfriend is Scottish so that pretty much makes me Scottish, too. You haven't done football until you've been to an Old Firm game . Scottish football is Celtic and Rangers. Imagine Celtic v Manchester United or Liverpool v Rangers, it'd be fantastic. It has to happen for the fans. I believe the Scottish league would become more open."

Oasis headline next month's T In The Park festival when Scots fans will get their first chance to see the band perform tracks from their latest album Heathen Chemistry.

Speaking on Clyde FM last night, Noel said: "I doubt myself as a songwriter sometimes. I just have to empty my head out and start again and go back and listen to the old records. I don't know how many songs I've written, but it's quite a lot. The pressure is still the same. You're only as good as your last song."
