assistance from Fermilab, the National Weather Service, the Severe Storms Forecast ...

This marks the 25th year we've invited our readers and viewers to join us for at the Fermilab National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Illinois for a gathering of some of this country's severe weather forecasters and researchers

The ongoing work, conducted by Matt Gilmore, Bob Johns, Don Burgess and Bob Maddox, all well known and respected scientists in this country's premier severe weather community, is yielding some amazing new insights into one of the country's seminal tornado event

Tom Skilling, Chief Meteorologist of WGN-TV Chicago, has been educating the public on severe weather and tornado safety for 24 years

His most recent honor is the IBA Best Weather Show of 2004, as well as 2003 Silver Dome Award for Best Television Weathercast

Other Skilling specials that have aired on WGN-TV include: "Ten Inches of Partly Sunny, " "Chasing the Wind, " "Hurricane: The Greatest Storm on Earth, " "Alaska: Where Winters Are Really Winters, " and "A Winter Weathercast." Tom and Brian Smith began coordinating this annual seminar some years ago with support and assistance from Fermilab, from the National Weather Service, the Severe Storms Forecast Center, and many others--with the sole intent of informing and educating the public, and emergency volunteers and professionals
