Philadelphia Fife and Drum
Opens most conventions and meetings in the Philadelphia area and performs daily
at Independence Hall every summer. Photographs and narration of recent events.
On July 4, 2000, we performed for dignitaries from throughout the world at the award of the Liberty Medal to Nobel Laureates James Watson and Francis Crick at Independence Hall
On July 4, 2005, we opened the ceremonies at Independence Hall for the presentation of the City of Brotherly Love Award to Elton John, and we did the Independence Hall ceremony again on July 4 in 2006
In 2006, we are performing our normal daily schedule at Independence Hall, from mid-May right through until Labor Day, mustering "recruits" into the Continental Army at 12:30 and 1:30 daily, as we have done for many years
The museum was first founded at Memorial Hall, the site of the Centennial of the United States, long before the steps that Rocky climbed at its present home
(For 2005, our Call to Arms, with fife and drum, will be held at 12:30PM at the Signer's Garden, directly across 5th Street from Independence Hall

1851- The President has a busy day attenting a ceremony at the Washington Monument in the company of various military officials and other dignitaries, then joins in a procession from City Hall to the Capitol where he ceremonially participates in the laying of the 'cornerstone of the new Capitol edifice.' 1852- Franklin Pierce 1853- Pierce is in the White House, but walks over to the Post Office to see about having an employee there reinstated after his firing
1914- President Wilson gives an address on the meaning of the Declaration of Independence and utters the famous words, 'Our country, right or wrong, ' at Independence Hall in Philadelphia
1917- The President is in the White House faced with the challenge of assembling a war machine for the impending conflict
