THE DEATH OF QUEEN JANE

Queen Jane lay in labour
for nine days or more
till the women grew so tired
they could no longer bear, they could no longer bear.

There was fiddling, aye, and dancing
in the day the babe was born
but good Queen Jane beloved
lay cold as a stone, lay cold as a stone.
LA MORTE DELLA REGINA JANE
La regina Jane è in travaglio da nove giorni o più
fino a che le donne furono così stanche
da non potere reggere più a lungo, da non poter reggere più a lungo.
"Buone donne, buone donne, buone donne come siete
mi aprirete il fianco destro e troverete il mio bambino, e troverete il mio bambino".
"Oh no," gridarono le donne "questo non potrà mai essere

"Cosa ti affligge, mia signora?

"Re Enrico, Re Enrico vuoi fare una cosa per me?
Apri il mio fianco destro e trova il mio bambino, e trova il mio bambino"
"Oh no, " gridò il re, "è una cosa impossibile
se perdessi il fiore di Inghilterra
perderei anche il ramo, perderei anche il ramo.
Si suonò il violino, ininterrottamente, e ci furono danze
il giorno che nacque il bambino
Ma la buona e amata regina Jane giacque
fredda come una pietra, fredda come una pietra.
