Senza andare a scomodare i grandi artisti del Rinascimento che, comunque, appena potevano abbandonavano i temi religiosi per dipingere luminosi e sensuali nudi femminili, osserviamo che oggigiorno le "stelle" del cinema o le dive degli spettacoli sono spesso ritratte in artistiche immagini di nudo, senza che ciò crei alcun problema. Non dimentichiamo, per esempio, che nel celebrato film Titanic, il protagonista maschile interpretato da De Caprio appena ne ebbe l'occasione ritrasse nuda la donna che amava. Lei, complice, faceva finta di dormire nella sua cabina del sfortunato transatlantico ascoltando ad occhi chiusi il suono del carboncino che scivolava veloce sulla tela E quel disegno, quella scena, non ha provocato alcun scalpore o censura.

It was not the case of the very famous web site Nude Raider. The site was characterized by pictures that were definitely pornographic and of little artistic value. This was a stretch for the character of the pretty archeologist. The shutting down of the Web site, requested and obtained by EIDOS, was due to the fact that the site had made available patches which would allow the alteration of the game, thus allowing for the complete undressing of the pretty Lara. This was deemed unacceptable by EIDOS.

Non era questo il caso del celeberrimo sito Nude Raider. Il sito era caratterizzato da immagini e fotografie, anche spesso grossolanamente realizzate, che erano decisamente pornografiche e per niente artistiche. Un'esasperazione hard-core eccessiva per il personaggio della bella archeologa. La chiusura del sito, ottenuta dalla EIDOS, è dovuta anche al fatto che era possibile scaricare le pacth che modificavano il software del gioco con il risultato di denudare  totalmente la bella Lara in tutto il gioco. Il che è stato ritenuto inaccettabile dalla EIDOS.
