KALASH INDIGENOUS SURVIVAL PROGRAMME

Dear friends

Kalash Indigenous Survival Programme is an organization working for the most deprived Kalash people (residents of Rumboor, Bumburate and Birir), We are living in valleys of the Hindukush, a border between Afghanistan and Pakistan and we, the "Kalashis", are maintaining most unique and mysterious culture since 2000 BC or more.

The Genetics Department of the Stanford University, Faculty of Medicine, is analysing blood champion to individualize the DNA marker of a particular population and compare it with that of other peoples, it is an ambitious project that is "writing" the genetics history of the peoples of the world.
Head of the Pakistani team is Doctor Qasim Mehdi, which adds that the DNA of the Kalash has a genetic relative with the Italian and German. Doctor Mehdi is also comparing the DNA of the Hunza people and the Kalashis with that of the greeks and of the macedonians as, at least for four centuries, the culture of the Greek-Bactrian kingdom influenced the area, while today it is possible to exclude that Alexander the Great never reached the valleys.

Still we people stick to our culture, conventions and traditions but due to various reasons our population and culture are at decline and if immediate remedial actions are not taken, it will be too late to maintain the same culture and with the aim of preservation of the Kalash Culture and to improve the life condition, KISP came into existence on late 1998.

These are some of our efforts:

KISP start holding Local National & International Seminars to introduce the Kalash people in a high platform and to fight for their rights, as well organized Local & National campaign about human unity and awareness among the majorities and minorities of Pakistan.

KISP is supporting two civil dispensaries in Rumboor & Birir more then 5000 thousand people have been benefited from the free medicines.

KISP is supporting students some of them are standing in colleges of Peshawar.

KISP is the only active organization working as a bridge, for entire minorities of NWFP, therefore we have been encouraged by the Public & Media.

In order to get on with our duty we ask for your support, everything is important for us, we will appreciate your efforts.

Thank You.
