Historical perspective


Chitral valley having its own natural beauty, having its own history and background. Chitral is famous for their natural beauty all over the world.
Historian says that Chitral was under domination of Buddish before 900 BC and ruled by J, PAC. Then Hamayun attacked in 6th Century.
History also reveals that it was a part of China in 56BC.
In 8th Century Islamic Faces turned to this region and at this time Muslim King Shah Nadir captured it, in 1320th AD.
After Shah Nadir capturing the Kalash and imposed Islam and Islamic State installed here. Before the capturing this area, was ruled by Kalash.



Location


Chitral lies at the distance of 322KM from Peshawar. At the north of Chitral Hinduksh range is situated. At northeast the Afghan territory Wakan separated from Russia and at South and southeast Chitral is attached with Dir and east the boundary of Chitral touches the Gilgit valley.



Population


Population of Chitral is 208560 consisting of 107948 male and 100612 is female according to 1981 census. Now a days the Chitral population reached to 320000 hence the result of 1998 had not declared officially, the exact number of population is not known.



Geography


Chitral is spread over in area of 14850 square miles, Chitral consist of 503 villages, and Chitral division is divided in to sub division.
(1) Upper Chitral which is also known as Mustuj division.
(2) Lower Chitral.
Each division is also divided into sub division.



Climate


The tourist season in Chitral is from June to September. The maximum temperature of Chitral is 35°C and minimum is 19.5°C.
In the September the maximum temperature recorded is 33.89c. And minimum is 7.78c. District Chitral receives250mm to 1000mm-rain fall per year.
