L'associazione artistico socio-culturale Raggio Verde nasce l'8 febbraio 1996 e ha sede in Lecce, via Federico D'Aragona, 4. In questi cinque anni di attività sono state realizzate numerose iniziative, alcune di esse sono i capisaldi del programma annuale di attività, altre nascono e si moltiplicano ogni anno anche con la collaborazione e lo scambio con altre associazioni ed enti istituzionali. Il denominatore comune è sempre quello di incentivare la creatività in tutti i campi, coagulando esperienze ed idee grazie al confronto-incontro tra gli artisti. Lo spazio espositivo del Raggio Verde diventa una finestra su quello che sono le tendenze artistiche non solo locali e soprattutto uno spazio dove può trovare libera espressione l'arte in tutte le sue forme. Per i razionalisti il Raggio Verde è un fenomeno scientifico accertato; per i romantici esso consente a chi lo vede di guardare dentro di sé, proprio come vuole la leggenda; per i credenti è solo un punto fermo da cui partire per inseguire i propri sogni... Al di là delle interpretazioni è nella semplicità la nostra forza: non siamo un èlite e non crediamo che la cultura debba essere monopolio di pochi, crediamo nella libertà di pensiero e di espressione. A maggior ragione, se l'arte è la libera rappresentazione delle idee, del pensiero e della storia di un popolo, deve essere patrimonio di tutti e fonte inesauribile dalla quale attingere la forza per migliorare se stessi.
Oltre alle mostre personali e collettive e alle serate di vario interesse l'associazione cura una propria testata giornalistica "Il Raggio Verde", la omonima casa editrice. Inoltre si sono costituiti laboratori musicali, teatrali e di ricerca. Associazione autogestita, il Raggio Verde conta sull'entusiasmo dei suoi soci e sulle collaborazioni di chi ha a cuore la cultura e l'arte e crede che con l'associazionismo si possa costruire qualcosa di importante .

The artistic socio-cultural association "Raggio Verde" was born on February 8th, 1996 and has its premises in 4, Via Federico D’Aragona, Lecce, Italy. Many activities have been carried out in these five years, some of them are the cornerstones of an annual programme, others go forth and multiply every year thanks to the collaboration and the exchange with other associations and institutional bodies. The purpose of all that is always the promotion of creativity in every field, by means of a mixture of experiences and ideas coming from the confrontation/encounter among artists. Raggio Verde’s expositive areas become a window on the local, and not only, artistic trends; moreover these areas allow a free expression of art in all its forms. According to Rationalists, the Green Ray, that is "Raggio Verde", is a verified scientific phenomenon; according to the Romantics, instead, those who are lucky enough to see it, can look at themselves inside, just as the legend tells; and then, in the believers’ opinion, it is only a fixed point from where to start in pursuit of one’s own dreams…..Anyway, beyond any interpretation, our strength is in simplicity: we are not an élite and we do not believe that culture must be a privilege for few people, we believe in the freedom of thought and expression. All the more so, if art is the free representation of the ideas, the thought and the history of a nation, it must be a common heritage and an inexhaustible source from which we can draw the strength to improve ourselves. In addition to solo and joint exhibitions and besides the various cultural soirées, the Association edits the newspaper "Il Raggio Verde", with the same name of the publishing house. Moreover, it has set up a lot of music, theatre and research workshops. Since it is run autonomously, Raggio Verde relies on its members’ enthusiasm and on the collaboration of those who are concerned about culture and art and believe that associationism is a useful tool to build up something important.
