T77C

EXPEDITION AND CONTEST WITH TONY.

May 1990 - Republic of St. Marino -CQWPX CW -

If we consider that this expedition was made just for fun, I must
admit that it turned out to be very satisfying either from a human
point of view and as far as radio was concerned.
First of all I want to stress on the fact that it was a great
pleasure to meet T77C, Tony, who always had my best consideration
for the spirit with which he carries on his long career as a HAM:
for him it is always as if it was his first QSO, when he tries to
make a contact he has been longing for so long, when he hunts a
rare expedition or when, at last, he succeeds in getting a "NEW ONE".
Our "contest-expedition" consisted of the following OM people:
IK4IDW, I4PNG, IK4HLO, T77C , IK4DCS, IK4CIE
Two trasmitting stations and one standing by for listening.
Very heavy working shifts of each operator allowed us to attain a
good contest result: we ended 12th considering whole world and 4th
in Europe. We carried out 2982 QSOs and 645 multipliers granting us
something such as 3.668.760 point in total.
It was really a wonderful experience and our success was made
possible by the exceptional collaboration of Tony who took care of
logistics.
We actually had a great time there and as tourists as well.
Really great, but, unfortunately, so far, I could not repeat
the experience though I wold like to.
