MOROCCO 2001
In the period inclusive between 5 and 27 August 2001 we carried out, with our friends of Speleo Club Sperone of S. Giovanni Rotondo, a long journey in the South of Morocco with the aim of doing spelaeological and biospelaeological searches in the Jbel Ayachi Massif (Hight Central Atlas ) and in the far presahara areas of the Anti Atlas.

 Approach march on the Ayachi.

This spelaeological countryside, supported by Spelaelogical Italian Society, has been able to take advantage of the participation of the german paleontologist dott. Sascha Wagensommer that engaged in the scientific aspects concerning geology and palaeontology of the visited places. In the Ayachi Mountain Chain (m 3.757) we visited again the Rio Taddouine Cave,

an important active risorgenza, a kilometer approximately long, explored by Speleo Rome Club and Grottaferrata Spelaelogical Group in 1995. Here we captured some troglobi organisms, currently to the study of some specialists. In the following days a team went on the high part of this massive (height 3.000 metres) where, not much distance from the entrance of a vertical cavity, by us explored in the ' 98 and turned out deep 120 metres, had been marked the existence of a new cave. This cave however has been revealed entirely insignificant. 15 August, taken apart the field and abandoned the village of Tazrouft, like from program, our group moved to Erfoud, important fossil locality located to the beginning of the Sahara. After a short permanence dedicated to the paleontology, we undertook the travel of approach to the Anti Atlas, an immense mountain chain, constituted from ancient cliffs pertaining to the Cambrian and Precambrian periods, and bordering, to the south, on the Saharan desert. Arrived at Tazenacht, city where the best carpets of the Country are produced, and, exceeded Taliouine, we went to the south-west direction toward the heart of the massive. After many hundreds of kilometres, during which we crossed some extremely evocative landscapes, similar to the Rocky Mountains, finally we found a good zone. Mounted the field near Tafraute, we proceeded to the exploration of some cavities, between which the " Afa n Bigaderm". The cave begins with a series of short jumps that carry in a system of subhorizontal galleries to labirintic course, dug in the layer joints.

This cave is rich in concretions and highly choreographic areas. Explored for approximately average kilometer of length and 60 meters of depth, this cave seemed to continue to the large but, as often it happens, since it has been found in the end of the field, we hadn't a sufficient time to reach its bottom. Reluctantly we renounced also to the exploration of a deep abyss located in the outskirtses. Certainly the next summer we'll organize a new spelaelogical countryside in this place.

WHO HAS PERFORED THE SCALORIA CAVE?
A new serious environmental damage has been perpetrated in the famous archaeological area of the Scaloria Cave, near Manfredonia. 7 Fridays last September came marked us the presence of a tube, approximately 25 cm large, inserted by unknown persons to the inside of the cave after having practiced the drilling of the embedding cliff. This tube caught up waters of stratum directly located to the bottom of the cavity. In a successive inspection, happened approximately a week after, we observed the removal of such duct.
However remain the hole (that it crosses the cavity to several higts), the detritus deriving from the digging and unfortunately the pollution of waters of the basin where fished the gallery (presence of oily substances used for the perforation). We remember that in the small lakes of Scaloria were recently discovered some exceptional shapes of troglobia life, never recovered in the Gargano.

About this event were informed the Commando of Municipal Police of Manfredonia and Spelaeological Apulian Federation.

NEW CAVE EXPLORED IN THE ALBURNUMS MOUNTS
"Hole in Head " this the name of a cavity discovered by Spelaeological Dauno Group in Fuso Lauro Locality, in the Alburnums Mounts. This cavity begins with P. 20 to whose base a steep and most slippery slope leads in a white room. Here opens a little well with a narrow entrance that leads in a new area.

A short descendant underground passage introduce in the third well (P. 5) to whose bottom branches off a tightened meander that becomes larger and sinks in P. 10. The cavity continues with a comfortable gallery that finishes in P. 18. The below area is constituted by a whitest room, with beautifulst stalagmiti to plate. In a contiguous area there is a highest sink-fireplace to go up again. Following the way of the water the meander returns to being much narrow and after some little wells, there is a subject to landslides zone where at the moment, to beyond 100 metres of depth, the explorations have been arrested. The remarkable present airflow advises to try a disostruction.

NEWS FROM THE GARGANO: THE CAVE UNDER CIMA CANALONE
In the inexhaustible karstic plateau of "the Chiancate ", near S. Marco in Lamis, new discovered are always possible. The exploration of a fossil underground passage, whose entrance was obstructed by the natives in remote times, confirms this. After long jobs of disostruction we succeeded opening this cavity newly and proceeding to its exploration. A small sink of a pair of metres and a narrow passage, lead in a concretioned space in strong declivity. Here a wide deep sink approximately 30 meters opens.

On the base of this jump another jump 8 metres deep early opens, with its stamping plan full of rocky wreck that is incumbent dangerously on the third and last well nine metres deep where this cavity ends.
