We receive many questions about problem with the decimal separator symbol in Excel

Many ignore that it is a default international setting of the installation, but it can be easily

modify. Let's see how.

The symbols used for decimal separator and thousand separator can be easily changed

If you have the EXCEL 2002 you can change them directly from the menu.

Select Tools/options…and the “International” tab

If you have EXCEL 2000, on the contrary, you must change the window international setting before opening Excel

Select the international setting from the Windows control panel.

Click on “Personalization” button

Now you can change the symbol for decimal separator and also for the digits groups

If you set the decimal point “.” as decimal separator and the comma “,” as group separator

In this panel you can change also the character list separator. This will affect the argument separator of any Excel function

Of course you can restore the original setting at any time.
