I Suicidal Tendencies si formano a Venice nel 1982 grazie al cantante Mike Muir e al batterista Louiche Mayorga. Il loro album di debutto, "Suicidal Tendencies", del 1983 contiene autentiche stilettate hardcore, ma dal secondo album in poi la band prenderà a fondere l'HC con altri stili diversi come il funk, evidenziato da un particolare uso del basso. Con l'entrata di Rocky George alla chitarra nel 1987 i Suicidal aggiungono quel quid in più che mancava. Sono tra le prime band ad aver dato i natali al crossover.

Born in Venice (California) in 1982 by an idea of the singer Mike Muir and the drummer  Louiche Mayorga. Their debut album "Suicidal Tendencies" of 1983 contains true hardcore assaults, but since second album the band will start to contaminates their music with other various styles like funk, with a particoular bass playing. With the enter of  Rocky George at guitar in 1987 Suicidal Tendencies reach that little "quid" they hade not. They are one of the first band to play a kind of crossover.
