The violence in the stadium

Nowadays going to the stadium for me, is like going in a space where law is forgotten. The problem wasn’t big yesterday in Italy , but today the situation is degenerated. Some of the“Ultras”, people who root for one team, are organised in clubs, they go to the stadium only to create problems for the normal people and especially to attack Police. This kind of yesterday was “normal” until one day a police-man was killed at the stadium in Catania , a City of Sicily. It was like a war, Ultras vs. Police. But something was wrong.

Filippo Raciti, a police officer, 38 years old, was at work that day, but about 45 minutes into the “battle” as he climbed out of his car someone tossed a fire bomb inside, and he collapsed to the ground, a crude bomb went off next to him, newspapers reported. Police initially believed that Raciti was killed by the bomb, but officials later said he died from severe injuries to his liver, probably after being hit by a blunt object.

38 people have been arrested, including 15 minors questioned in Friday's violence at Catania 's stadium, where the local team was playing cross-island rival Palermo , my city, but also my favourite team. What happened in Catania is terrible, because a man, who work hard for little money and for people that don’t belong to him had to die. Police need respect for their work. The Police isn’t the enemy, but some Ultras are the  real enemies, and these people must be removed from stadiums

Going to the stadium is impossible for a simple family, because they can’t stay in security.

We need more police, more controls and more respect from the Ultras, all watching the matches in happiness and friendly.
