The
most important festival for Italian singers is: “Sanremo
Music Festival”,running since 1951, is a popular
Italian music contest. In
the past the Festival took place every year during the last week of February,
for some years now it takes place the first week of March at the Ariston Theatre,
originally called “Casinò of Sanremo”. This fastival was the inspiration for the Eurovision Song Contest. The Festival is broadcast live on national tv: “Rai Uno”in Eurovision since 1955. Since last year, the competition has been divided into five evenings
where singers and bands sing their new songs in Italian (Italian dialects are
also admitted even if it's a rare case). The contestants are divided into
categories: male lead singers, female lead singers, bands and new or slightly
known singers. The contestants sing their songs about three times, and they sing
once with another singer or group not in competition. During the competition one winner is declared, selected by the audience
and the panel of judges. Every year the master of ceremony chooses two beautiful
anchors to help him present the festival. This Festival has made history in Italian pop music. So many Italian
singers were discovered at the Sanremo Festival: Andrea Bocelli, Laura Pausini,
Eros Ramazzotti, Nek, Giorgia, Irene Grandi, and many others. Moreover some of
the most beautiful Italian songs have been performed there. On the one hand The Festival of Sanremo has been, for about forty years,
THE Event in On the other hand, it's true that during the latest editions the Festival
