Arthropoda, Arachnida, Araneae

Arachnida, Araneae, Nesticidae - Nesticus morisii Brignoli, 1975 - It is an eutroglophile spider, much more specialized on respect to Nesticus eremita, it shows an almost total depigmentation, very reduced eyes probably not functional. This species has been till now found exclusively in the subterranean of the Vernante fortress, a militar construction in the Vermenagna Valley, and represents therefore an endemite with punctiform area of distribution. Recently the author has visited the Vernante fortress together with Claudio Arnò with whom he's carrying out a systematic search on the piemontese territory and it's possible that during this search this species can be found in other cavities of the Vermenagna Valley. (Real size of the body: about 5-6 mm).
