These are caves with palaeontological interest, exploited a lot as bones mines at the begin of the twentieth, also if in the following years they has been object of recurring excavations. The cavities are horizontal and the western one has been object in the nineties of speleological explorations and its developement has been enlarged a lot.

The author visited this caves at the begin of his biospeleological career and also recently in 1998/9 for the realization of the biospeleological documentary produced by the Turin Regional Natural Science Museum.

These caves are locus typicus of Eukoenenia spelaea and into them live the Diplopoda Plectogona vignai, the Chilopoda Lithobius scotophilus, the insect Carabide Trechinae Duvalius carantii and it's easy find the troglophile Carabidae Sphodropsis ghilianii, walking on the gravelly floor, Dolichopoda ligustica on the walls, together to Limonia nubeculosa and butterflies of the wall association. On the vault of the tunnels, near the multiple entrances we can observe troglophile spiders like Meta menardi (subtroglophile) and Nesticus eremita (eutroglophile). In the same zones, but on the soil and the walls, it's frequently present the "Geotritone" (Speleomantes strinatii). Moreover, specialists of Chiroptera have reported that in this caves have been captured 13 different species of bats.
