HARRISON CHUA - Artist, Structural Engineer, Website and Graphic ...
Artist and structural engineer. Includes cat photos.
G'day! This is the website of Harrison Chua - Among many things, I am an exhibited artist, Structural Engineer, Project Manager, Event Planner, Website Designer, Writer and Catlover
I am a structural design engineer, and my main role is in the design of buildings
I work at a consulting structural engineering practice in Melbourne, Australia, with the focus on innovative and value-adding designs
Structural engineering is a rewarding profession that gives you the freedom and ability to provide the necessary input in the design of a structure so that it will not collapse under imposed gravity loading, lateral wind pressures, and earthquake forces
It requires the specialist technical and creative design input to ensure that building designs are functional, satisfies the needs of the client, and complies with all relevant building codes and regulations
We work through a design process that involves producing documentation in the form of structural drawings to complement the architectural drawings and enable the builders to construct the structure efficiently, in the planned time and on the target budget
In my role as design engineer and as part of a project team, I have performed the structural design of various commercial office buildings, residential apartment buildings, shopping centres, institutional facilities, and infrastructure projects

Design by Contract and the Eiffel method
News ECMA International standard 367, Eiffel Analysis, Design and Implementation Language , June 2005, the result of three years of intensive work by ECMA committee TC39-TG4
Design by Contract, formal methods, proofs
ETH achieved worldwide fame in computer science for its brilliant tradition of language and system design
Eiffel Eiffel is not just a language but a general method for system construction, applicable from requirements analysis all the way through design, implementation and maintenance, in a seamless and reversible way
Eiffel is based on the principles of object technology and Design by Contract
Concurrent object-oriented programming Techniques used today to program concurrent applications -- for example with multithreading -- and distributed systems are woefully behind the advances made in programming languages and software design methods in other areas
The SCOOP model is a comprehensive effort to make concurrent and distributed programming simple and safe, taking advantages of object technology and Design by Contract

MONASH ART AND DESIGN ?
Joel and Ethan Coen
Paul Coughlin profiles the film directors.
The Hudsucker Proxy 's synthetic visual design is mirrored by its stylised dialogue, the criminal milieu of Miller's Crossing is characterised by memorably rich gangster jargon, while Fargo 's attention to visual realism operates concurrently with the application of an appropriate regional dialect
Whereas Minnesota is integral to the design and conception of Fargo , Los Angeles is fundamental to The Big Lebowski
The Hudsucker Proxy is a defiantly referential film that overtly exposes its textual design; the film's narrator, an initial indication of the text's narrativity, stops the film midstream and directly addresses the audience
The role of memory, reception and intertextuality are crucial to the design in the Coen brothers' films
The Coen brothers do know too much about film, they know enough to recognise the conceits of its processes and to detect the values that such systems are designed to support
