ABSTRACT
For many years I am seeking if exists a connection
that shows in a clear way an intimate bond between Jesus and the Judaism of his
times.
I have studied the
Jewish calendar and I have presented a thesis of degree from the title
“The chronology of
the Gospels according to the Jewish calendar”
With the aid of any notions of temporal
metrology, I have been able to compile the agreement between the Jewish
calendar and Julian one from the year 4 b. C. to the year 33 AD. The results that I reached after this
search, they are, I daresay, amazing.
Now the well-known Printing House of Triest
“Edizioni Italo Svevo” has published my work, that now is only in Italian
language.
Subdivision of the
work
Introduction
In the preliminary
part I explain, above all, the reason of such research. In second place I
discuss about the possibility to formulate a chronology, by means of the study
of the lunar and solar calendars.
First chapter. A
short analysis of any important studies about subject matter
In this first part
I illustrate the motive for which since the first centuries of the Christian
era the Church has felt the need to formulate a calendar, above all with the
purpose of the liturgical use.
Second chapter. Study of the chronology of
Jesus Christ’s life
This section is
substantially about the possibility of formulate a chronology of the life of
Jesus.
I clarify the
motive because I retain that it is possible deduce any dates from the Gospels
with certainty.
Third chapter. the Jewish calendar
In this section I
explain as well which are the peculiarities of the Jewish calendar and which
are the principal Jewish festivals and any special recurrences.
Fourth chapter.
Chronological problem in the Gospel according to John and his finalities
Beyond to the exact
description of any places of which any trace has not been after the destruction
of the Temple, in the Gospel according to John there is the implicit and
explicit mention of festivals and particular recurrences.
The purpose of
John is double: he manifests the novelty of the message of Jesus, and he points
out again as each his action and teaching are deeply inserted in the Jewish
environment.
Fifth chapter.
were John and James the Sadducees?
In this part of
the work I have analysed any remarkable points of the New Testament, for
reconstruct the personality of the two brothers John and James.
Sixth chapter.
Chronology in the Gospel according to John
In this section I
shall proceed to a systematic analysis of the chronological elements that are
present in the Gospel according to John, starting from those more evident until
to those that are quite express in implicit way.
Any events however
are connected to the Gospel according to Luke.
Seventh chapter.
Chronology in the Gospel according to Luke
Also in the Gospel
according to Luke there are notable chronological elements that I could have
taken away again from an attentive analysis of the text.
In the final part
of this chapter I complete the picture of the dates of the Gospel according to
John, not yet found.
Eighth chapter.
the Passover according to the Synoptic Gospels
In this chapter
are considered the differences of narration existing between the last Passover
of John and the Passover according to the Synoptic Gospels.
Ninth chapter.
Chronology in the Gospel according to Matthew
It is known that
the "Gospel of the infancy" of Matthew has been always considered
like the necessary basis for determining the year of birth of Jesus.
I take away again
like between Luke and Matthew there are some incongrounesses, because they
pursued different finality.
Tenth chapter.
Methodical chronology of Jesus Christ’s life
In this part of
the work I reassume all the dates that are drawn with my study, in consecutive
order. With this work I have obtained about 98 dates, without any
contradiction. Of these dates, 85 are referring to many events related in the
Gospels from the Nativity of John the Baptist and Jesus Christ to the death and
resurrection of the same Jesus.
Eleventh chapter. Conclusion
Here I formulate
the conclusion of all the work and of the gotten results, from which coherent
chronology results of around one hundred events narrated from the Gospels. Everybody
knows that Jesus Christ is the founder of the Christianity, but I observe like
he could be considered a true Jewish without any contradiction.
Appendixes
This part of the study is about the exposure of
different matters:
1) Explanation of the scientific methodology of the
job and of the method rigorously mathematical, that finds his application in
the calculus of the calendars.
2) Notions of metrology and chronology. In this section I
formulate any scientific principles, those are the presupposition for the
calculus and the comprehension of each calendar. Besides I apply these rules to the Jewish calendar
and to the way of calculate it.
3) Explanation and solution of the problem of the
Christmas and of the Epiphany.
4) Verification of the full agreement of the enclosed
calendars to the study with the "Easter Tables" of Dionysius Exiguus
(Denis the Little). With regard to this matter I point out that the
calculuses of this study are been made independently from those of Dionysius,
but there is the convergence with these made by the Monk.
Tables out text
in the beginning I
have calculated the calendars from the year
-3 up to the year 33, divided for semester, together to other tables.
Everything was
composed from around 100 pages.
For motives of
space I have attached to the thesis only the tables that refer directly to the
taken care of chronology.
