2 febbraio - '8 Mile' DVD Features Rap Battles Between Eminem And Movie Extras. DVD features appearance by porn star Gina Lynn, 'Making of "8 Mile"' documentary. If your 10 bucks went to the $116 million "8 Mile" made at the box office, then you know that some of the most entertaining scenes in the Eminem flick were the rap battles. Come March 18, you'll be able to revisit those lyrical face-offs when the "8 Mile" DVD hits stores. Included in the 25 minutes of deleted scenes from the movie will be five spontaneous rap battles between Eminem and audience extras, shot during the making of the movie. Director Curtis Hanson ("L.A. Confidential") introduces and describes the scenes, according to a Universal Pictures spokesperson. And if that's not intriguing enough, the DVD will also be the only place to see Eminem's video for his latest single, "Superman," which features a cameo from porn star Gina Lynn. The DVD won't include the videos for "Lose Yourself" or 50 Cent's "Wanksta," two of the "8 Mile" soundtrack's biggest hits, but it will feature a documentary called "The Making of '8 Mile'." The movie, which also features Brittany Murphy, Mekhi Phifer and Kim Basinger, made $51 million the weekend it opened in November, the highest debut ever for a first-time lead actor.

Multi-Grammy-winning, best-selling multi-platinum recording artist Eminem burns up the screen with "an undeniably charismatic performance" (Christy Lemire, Associated Press), in director Curtis Hanson's (L.A. Confidential, Wonder Boys) searing 8 MILE, coming to DVD and video March 18, 2003, from Universal Studios Home Video. The DVD will include Academy Award(R)-winner Hanson's groundbreaking critically acclaimed film, along with additional bonus features created specially for Eminem fans by Universal Studios Home Video. The DVD version is priced at $34.95 (S.R.P.). The VHS version is priced for rental. To bring 8 MILE to the screen, Academy Award(R)-winning producer Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13) and legendary rock-and-roll music producer and Chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M, Jimmy Iovine, joined forces, each intent on transcending borders and discovering the dramatic potential of hip-hop, never before explored on film. Grazer notes: "I've been interested in hip-hop for more than 20 years. That's what made me want to learn more about its roots." The producer goes on to say, "I became interested in Eminem several years ago. He wasn't a star at the time, but I felt he had enormous charisma and that he could be explosive as a film star." Iovine, Dr. Dre and Paul Rosenberg had wanted to make a hip-hop film but nothing connected until they met Grazer. According to Iovine, "We kept hitting the ball and Brian Grazer was the first guy to hit it back." Along with Eminem comes a remarkable cast that includes Oscar winner Kim Basinger (L.A. Confidential), as Stephanie, the down-on-her-luck but ever- hopeful mother to Eminem's Jimmy "Rabbit" Smith, Jr. 8 MILE also features strong supporting work from an acclaimed roster of young actors, including Mekhi Phifer (Impostor, O), Brittany Murphy (Don't Say a Word, Riding in Cars With Boys) and Taryn Manning (crazy/beautiful, White Oleander). 8 MILE stunned both critics and audiences with a combination of Eminem's emotionally raw big-screen debut and the film's account of one man's efforts to transcend his existence along 8 Mile Road, the city's dividing line between urban and suburban, between black and white. In the hands of director Hanson, 8 MILE is a provocative fictional examination of a critical week in a young
man's life as he searches for his identity and a sense of purpose. As  Oscar(R)-winning producer Grazer says, "It's about finding your own way, what really makes you happy, pursuing your dreams and not letting your talent go to waste."
"LOSE YOURSELF" IN ELECTRIFYING DVD BONUS FEATURES
The 8 MILE DVD contains special bonus features for millions of 8 MILE and Eminem fans, including "The Making of 8 MILE" and the following exclusive, never-before-seen footage, available in both censored and uncensored versions:

spontaneous rap performances between Eminem and audience extras from
the film.
- The music video for "Superman," from the best-selling album "The
Eminem Show," available only on the 8 MILE DVD.

11 febbraio - YAHOO NEWS: Kim, a 50 anni ancora grinta e sex appeal.

EMPIRE: After splitting up with his girlfriend, aspiring white rapper Jimmy lives on the poor side — the black side — of the 8 Mile divide in Detroit with his single mom. While working at a steel pressing plant, Jimmy tries to work up the nerve to enter the local rapping ‘battles’ and earn some respect. Let’s get this over with: 8 Mile is the rap Rocky, the hip-hop Saturday Night Fever. But just because comparisons are easily made does not make them uninstructive. Lest we forget, both Rocky and Saturday Night Fever were instant pop classics, shrewdly engineered yarns of personal triumph set against a harsh, blue-collar landscape. And, like boxing in Rocky and dancing in Saturday Night Fever, rapping in 8 Mile possesses redemptive power — raw talent will always out. In fact, the chief difference in this case is that the charismatic leading actor is not in need of an iconic moment. Eminem is a star already. As Jimmy, Eminem does not invite sympathy easily. Often hooded and perpetually wearing a cap and scowl of some description, he keeps the audience at a safe distance. The camera does not love him (Rodrigo Prieto’s unforgiving camera loves little in the steely, blue bleakness of Detroit) because his power must be carefully guarded, much like the music which we hear only fitfully for most of the movie. Of course, in the best Rocky tradition, 8 Mile demands a climactic showdown. However, when Jimmy is called to ‘battle’ against a rival rapper, the punches cannot be pulled; for the movie to work at all, Eminem’s natural skills must finally break free. Without giving anything away, the manner of Jimmy’s triumph is one of the most exhilarating scenes you will see all year. And yet Curtis Hanson has crafted too nuanced a movie to close on an unambiguous high. This is not The Karate Kid. Indeed, in the closing moments, it becomes clear that the organising myth of 8 Mile is perhaps not Rocky, but Shakespeare’s Henry IV Part I. Jimmy is Prince Hal, the king in waiting, who must stop slumming in low company and strike out on his own if he is to ascend to his rightful throne. From Rocky I to Henry IV — it really is that good. Following L.A. Confidential and Wonder Boys, this makes a remarkable hat-trick for Hanson and is a personal triumph for Eminem. As MC Hammer might say — U Can’t Touch This.
