N.B. I am not available for sessions beyond these dates.

(i) Important note
All students who began their thesis with me but will not finish by the 28th March session will have to complete their thesis with either Prof Ulrych or Prof Brocias.

Students wishing to begin their thesis should go directly to Prof Ulrych or Prof Brocias.

The information on these pages remains valid for the rest of this academic year.

Note: Prof Kantz continues to be the coordinator for English of the Terminology site.

(ii) Laurea Translation & Interpreting
The "prova finale" for the new laurea has been approved by the Consiglio di corso di laurea and is very similar that of the Diploma (see below).

Language A - a "tesina" on one of the following:

  • A glossary of at least 80 terms
  • A translation into/from Lang. A of at least 30 pages
  • An analysis of an interpretation

In each case the "tesina" must include an appropriate critical commentary.

Interpreters
Students who studied interpreting on the Diploma course and who have passed onto the degree course, will be allowed to present a thesis on interpreting. Students of the Laurea course who are interested in doing a thesis on interpreting will be also allowed to do so if the CCL considers the proposed project to be worthwhile.

Language B:
You also have to prepare three terminological schede: 2 in language B and 1 in Italian.
Students who choose to prepare their schede in English should contact Prof. Deirdre Kantz for all information: caneton@inwind.it

(iii) Diploma theses (Acqui)
Currently translators and interpreters have different options when deciding what to do for their thesis.

Translators:
You can choose between doing a glossary or doing a translation of a text of your choice (in agreement with your relatore) with a critical commentary. You are required to prove that the text you choose has never been translated into Italian before. The "text" can also be a film, for which you can produce a dialogue list or subtitles in English.

Interpreters:
You  can choose between doing a glossary or writing a critical analysis of a piece of interpreting.

Language B: All students also have to prepare 5 schede for the terminological site - 3 in their 2nd foreign language and 2 in Italian.
Students who choose to prepare their schede in English should contact Prof. Deirdre Kantz for all information: caneton@inwind.it
