Fondamentalmente l'esposizione dei pezzi costituenti la propria collezione è per il collezionista uno degli aspetti gratificanti intrinseco al collezionare stesso.
Per il visitatore questa forma di vanità (o "filantropia culturale", a seconda dei punti di vista) può essere comunque utile e non fine a sé stessa:
il "profano" può curiosare e vedere vari esempi di un oggetto (la Radio prima, la Televisione in seguito, senza dimenticarsi di altri ritrovati "minori" o posteriori) che ha rivoluzionato la società moderna globalmente, riuscendo a ritagliarsi un ruolo non marginale fin nel dettaglio della vita di ogni singola famiglia;
il "collega" collezionista può giovarsi delle immagini (per quanto non sempre eccellenti) per destreggiarsi nel restauro estetico di apparecchi simili.
