CASTELLAMONTE

World famous for its ceramics production, Castellamonte is a quiet small town that rises over a beautiful green hill surmounted from a beautiful medieval Castle, (now rearranged and converted into a private home). Its quite easy to find red brick decoration over the town's buildings facades, especially in via Massimo D'Azeglio, where decorations from the 1600 and 1700 are clearly visible. In order to make this pottery and ceramics tradition stronger, there are the annual Ceramics Exhibition, the Ceramics Museum and a famous Art Institute that teaches ceramics, textile art, architectural design, and interior decoration. The town reminds its medieval origins every year during the Ancient Carnival, where the main characters are the Bella Pignatera and the General, wearing medieval costumes and the Re Pignatun, fanny puppet resembling an important townsman.
