| home - introduction - the village - the house - how to get here |
THE HOUSE La Casa di Rundine is a typical 'casa a torre' where the sleeping areas are on the ground and first floors (where it's cool) and the living areas are on the top floors (bright and airy). The house was completely renovated in 2008 and is a blend of original features and modern design pieces. It is the result of years of traveling and collecting and is furnished with vintage fabrics, paintings, old mirrors and enough books to keep repeat visitors happy for many, many years. It can comfortably sleep up to seven people though would be ideal for five. It has two bathrooms, one of which is on-suite, a newly fitted kitchen and all mod-cons. Finished to a high standard throughout, this is not a typical holiday let. Water is heated by solar panelling and in winter there is full central heating and working fireplaces. BIBLIOTECA Biblioteca was conceived as a lounge room where you can spend winter nights by the fire, reading a book and enjoying a good glass of wine, and Summer evenings relaxing in the coolest room in the house. The room has a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with sunken bath.
MURALES This is Cassia's room! Ideal for children, but the mural on the wall with be conducive to the sweetest dreams no matter the age.
GRECA Featuring one of the original stone floors in the house with its 'greca' design, this double room is calm, fresh and inviting. There is a double bed, wardrobe, and dressing table to get ready for those special evenings out. Like all three of the lower floor rooms the windows have wooden shutters that completely block out the light when closed. (Guests needing to get up early might want to set an alarm..)
KITCHEN & LOUNGE Newly fitted kitchen with large fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric oven with gas hobs and everything you need to prepare your meals enjoying the best local ingredients. There is an oval dining table that has been stretched to fit eight on many an occasion The kitchen-diner and living room are open plan and separated by the staircase which has a child-gate for security. There is a large three seater sofa and a love chair - too big for one, but small enough for two, in front of one of the house's two fireplaces. The lounge opens into a balcony where you can sit down and enjoy the view whilst sipping your aperitivo of choice.
SOTTOTETTO This cosy and intimate space is one of our favourite spots in the house. Great for reading, thinking and writing, or simply looking at the stars. There's also a very comfortable sofa-bed which can turn this room into a nice extra double bedroom.
TERRAZZA The house has a south-facing roof-terrace ideal for breakfast and evening dining, from which you get a superb view over the roofs of the old-town and the hills that surround it. Dining area, sun-bed and reading corner make this terrace a great outdoor space for your evenings al fresco.
