Here is how I've upgraded the firmware and changed the 'native' MAC address, on a wireless prism2 card
[Netgear MA701, but tested also on a D-Link]
A windoze laptop is needed.

- Buy a cheap CF to PCMCIA adapter.

- Go to
http://www.senao.com [drivers section, or some other distributor]
and get WinUpdate-0-5-1-0.exe

- Get macchanger [http://www.alobbs.com/macchanger/]
with this tool, you can generate 'trues' fake MAC addresses.. ;)
BTW, it's very easy to cross-compile this for the Z.

- Get the prism2 firmwares from http://www.netgate.com/support

- in windoze laptop, install the drivers for the card [for the MA701, the MA401 drivers are ok].
- Fire up the 'Prism Test Utilities'
- edit the MAC address.
- upgrade the firmware [or leave the same..] flashing the card.
- Voila, you've toasted a new MAC.

[note that the utility attached isnt working now, too old, the right one is WinUpdate-0-5-1-0.exe]
