Why this site about Unix?
Because Unix is the standard for many operating system.
Many are the operating system Unix-like, someone is commercial, as Solaris, others are free as Linux.
All Unix-like systems share a common model, then is easy to port software from a platform to an other.
Who writes software to run it on a system, and does it looking some programming rule will can port his software easly in the others platforms.

I beginned my work in Unix environment since 1989 using Xenix, and every times I found the available environment optimal to solve the problems in any case. Every time the result was the best.
Working in Unix environment is very agreeable, all the small problems are quickly identified and very rarely can stop the system.
If you never had used a Unix-like system and you are bored for many reboot, if you think that your data are important, I think now is time to use a Unix-like system.
But if you want to use Windows in any case, console your self whith thease haiku.
