getphoto
Introduction
getphoto
is a tool that lets you get photos from your
digital camera. Its work is to:
- mount the device (usb-storage) corresponding to your digicam;
- get photos from the mounted device and copy them to a local directory specified by user;
- umount the device
- and, optionally, resize photos, preserving the original ones.
Requirements
Resizing support is available only for jpeg images and is
implemented using libjpeg
, a project of the Independent JPEG
Group. You must have it, if you want to resize your images.
Supported platforms
For the moment, only GNU/Linux systems are supported. If you want
to contribute, testing getphoto
on other platforms,
please send an e-mail to: dds@gnulinux.it

Security Note
getphoto
needs to be run suid root to work properly;
please consider using it with sudo
or another tool of
this kind if you work in an environment where security is a need.
